Lucknow Sentinel Editor Rob Bundy is
Jamaica bound this week. He's there as a
special guest of the Jamaican people, par-
ticularly those in the tourist industry, who
want the world to know that Jamaica is
still a great place to visit.
Following recent devastation in
Jamaica due to the tropical storm
"Gilbert", the tourist business has drop-
ped off dramatically. Since it is the
livelihood of many Jamaican people,
authorities are looking for ways to get the
story out to prospective visitors that
Jamaica is still a great place for a holiday.
According to spokesmen from Jamaica,
the resort hotels are just as safe and as
comfortable as ever - and the Jamaican
HEALTH AND SAFETY
TRAINING SEMINARS
A series of seminars in Health and Safe-
ty Management, Workplace Inspection,
Claims Management and Workplace
Hazardous Materials Inspection System
are offered November 1988 to March 1989.
These seminars are designed for
owner/operators, managers and super-
visory personnel in agricultural, hor-
ticultural and landscape industries.
Sessions are offered in various locations
throughout Ontario including Guelph,
Toronto, Newmarket, London, Leam-
ington, and Chatham. Registration fees
range from $10 for a half day program in
Claims Management or Workplace Inspec-
tion, to $45 for a full day seminar in
Workplace Hazardous Materials. Dis-
counts are available for additional persons
from the same company.
The Ontario Farm Safety Association is
instrumental in coordinating this pro-
gram. Registration information may be
obtained from the Farm Safety Associa-
tion's Seminar Coordinator m Guelph,
519-823-5600, or from the OMAF office.
BRUCE COUNTY
DAIRY PRINCESS
Sandra Benninger, daughter of John and
Geraldine Benninger, RR 2, Mildmay, is
the 1988-89 Bruce County Dairy Princess.
She was crowned at the competition held in
conjunction with the Bruce County Hols-
tein Club's Annual Dance at Formosa.
Sandra is a graduate of Sacred Heart
High School in Walkerton. At present, she
people are anxious to meet and greet their
friends from North America.
Bundy is getting a first-hand look this
week. With other journalists from Canada,
he's being shown the island - its hotels, its
restaurants,,its beaches, its tourist attrac-
tions. Rob will be recording it all on film
and in his notebook and will be bringing
back an honest appraisal of the situation
there for Lucknow Sentinel readers.
This special invitation to come to
Jamaica was issued to FOCUS
Newsmagazine, a blanket circulation
publication of Signal -Star Publishing
Limited offering 18,500 copies every other
week to readers in Huron County and the
village of Lucan. Bundy is editor of FOCUS
as well as of The Lucknow Sentinel.

ARM REPORT
is studying French and . religion at the
University of Waterloo.
Sandra will be representing the dairy
farmers of Bruce county for the next year
and will compete at the CNE in August
1989 for the title of Ontario Dairy Princess.
Five Star Quilters meet
The Lucknow Town Hall was a beehive
of activity last week when the Five Star
Quilters meet for the second time. The roll
call was answered by 42 members.
Sharon Stein conducted a short business
meeting and minutes of the initial meeting
were read by secretary Betty Fieten. A let-
ter from the Canadian Quilters Guild was
also presented. It was decided to wait unitl
June to join the organization.
Betty announced a quilt show being held
in Owen Sound on November 2 at. Lee
Manor Auditorium. It was sponsored by
the Bluewater Quilters' Guild.
The project for the day was to make a
Dresden Plate quilt block beginning with
making the pattern.
Roll call forthe next meeting, to be held
November 30, is to bring a completed block
and a quilting hoop or frame. The meeting
will be held at the Teeswater Complex.
