The depart- ment raised $2167 on labour day weekend during the roadside canvas. (Pat Liv- ingston photo) WHITECHURCH by Jean Ross Congratulations to Kendra Purdon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon, who graduated from Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo on October 30. They attended the Baccalaureate Church ser- vice at Seminary Chapel followed by brunch at the Waterloo Inn. In the after- noon they were joined by. Mr. and Mrs. John Scheeringa and Meagan of Bramp- ton, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Falconer and Jackie of Exeter and attended the fall con- vocation at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. Kendra received Honours in Bachelor Business Adminstration with a co-op option. In the evening the family attended a din- ner at the Stone Crock in St. Jacobs. Ken- dra is employed by General Motors in Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Zumi, Miss Sumi Wamoto of Toronto spend the weekend with Mildred McClenaghan. Mr. and Mrs. George Armstrong spent the weekend with ,Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parry of Bright. Attending the fun day at Holyrood In- situtute on Thursday were Mrs. Russel McGuire, Mrs. Agnes Farrier, Mrs. Nor- ma Rintoul, Mary Hehn and Mrs. Jean Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ducharme of Goderich , Mr. and Mrs. Tom Vannus and girls of Lambeth, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laidlaw and family of Dorchester visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw. • Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott, Karen, Mrs. Agnes Farrier, Mrs. Evelyn Gibb attended the song fest on Sunday evening in the Teeswater Presbyterian Church. Whitechurch UCW The Whitechurch United Church Women met on November 1 at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Durnin. The topic was world outreach. Mrs. Agnes Farrier read a poem and hymns were sung throughout the meeting. Mrs. Alice Moore read the scripture and Mrs. Farrier read about the oppression and hardship of the black women of South Africa. Mrs. Hazel Laidlaw and Mrs. Margaret Sleightholm told about three black women and their difficulty under their govern- ment rules. Mrs. Farrier, Mrs. Durnin and Mrs. Gibb favoured with a hymn. Mrs. Laidlaw conducted a quiz on the Bible. The offering and least coin was received. The minutes were read, rollcall answered by 13, naming a missionary and the country they are serving. Donations were given to different mission concerns. A pot luck dinner to be held on December 4 after church. A life membership was presented to Agnes Farrier by Mildred McClenaghan on behalf of the UCW members.
