Charles Murray and Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller attended the Women's In- stitute rally at Underwood on Thursday at the Community Centre., With the municipal election drawing near, some of the ones seeking election for Reeve and councillors have been calling in our village ,so we will know them by sight and name and where to put our X on Nov, 14th. Mrs. Frank Maulden returned home on Friday after being at Fonthill with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Phillips. We are all glad Jean's surgery is over and that she is steadily improving. Visitors with Edna and May Boyle dur- ing the week were Mrs. Ellwood Elliott, Mrs. Lloyd Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. David Otwell. Mrs.. Harold Smith and Mrs. Douglas McEwan were to Hepworth on Friday at- tending the area Convention from Holyrood Women's Institute. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Eckenswiller on the arrival of their baby girl on Saturday, Oct. 29th. A grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller. Mrs. Agnes Hodgins returned from visiting in Toronto with Mrs. •Lonore Sutherland and also with the House family (Nancy Teixeira) is Agnes' granddaughter. Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Mrs. Howard (Edna) Glass who CRIME STOPPERS 1-800-265-3787 Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce are seek- ing the public's assistance in the investiga- tion of break, enter and theft in Artemesia Township, south of Markdale, Ontario. The Markdale detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, report that sometime over the weekend of July 9th to 11th 1988, an outside, enclosure .at the United Co-op store, south of Markdale, Ontario was broken into by cutting a three.by four foot hole in the chain link fence. A heavy set of bolt or wire cutters were used. The culprit(s) then stole nine lawn mowers from the enclosure. The lawn mowers are described as being green in color and the make was Turftrim. Two (2) had 19 inch blades with 3.5 HP Tecumseh engines. One (1) with 20 inch blade and a Briggs and Stratton engine. One (1) with 22 inch blade and a Tecumseh 4 cycle engine. Three (3) with '72 inch blades and self propelled by 3.5 HP Briggs and Stratton engines. Two (2) with 21 inch blades and 3.5 Tecumseh engines. A vehicle of some sort would have been required to remove the mowers from the property. At this time the type of vehi- cle is not known. Total value of the stolen mowers, $3,000. No one will know who you are, and all information is strictly confidential. Kby May Boyle passed away at Bruce Lea Haven where she has been a resident, formerly of the south line here. Mrs. Carol Helfenstein of Teeswater spent Sunday evening with Edna and May Boyle. iNLoucH Steele - Hackett Brenda Mary Hackett and Brian Keith Steele were united in marriage in Trinity United Church, Ashfield Township on September 24, 1988. Rev. Robert Roberts officiated at the ceremony. Brenda is the daughter of Lorne and Hazel Hackett or R. 3, Lucknow and the late Joyce Hackett (nee Little). Brian is the son of Fred and Norma Steele of R. 1 Kirkton. Matron of honour was Nancy Grubb of Waterloo. Bridesmaids were Carolyn Klomp of Strat- ford, Laurie Hackett of Belle River, Wen- dy Steele of R. 2 Kippen and Debora Hunt of Stratford. Tabatha Steele, R. 2 Kippen was flowergirl while Benjamin Steele, also of R. 2 Kippen was ringbearer. Brian was assisted by Monty Steel, R. 1 Kirkton, Greg Hackett, R. 3 Lucknow, Brian Hackett, Belle River, Fred Steele, R. 1 Kirktdn and Randy Steele R.- 2 Kippen. A reception followed in the Lucknow and District Com- munity Centre. Following a honeymoon in Northern Ontario, the newlyweds are residing at 126 Mowat Street, Stratford.
