Horseshoe Tournament
When Alex Boa of Goderich and Jack
Ward of Monkton teamed up at a recent
horseshoe tournament at Wingham's
Sportsmen's Club they had their work cut
out for them.
The competition in the "A" division in-
cluded the team of Boa's longtime friend
Harold Carter and 16 -year-old world junior
champion Ed Neeb of Kitchener.
Boa and Ward prevailed however taking
five wins of single round games which
were played to 50 points.
Carter and Neeb were second with four
wins and a plus 49.
Lloyd Neeb (Ed's father) paired up with
Al Springall of London to take third place.
Neeb earned his world title late this sum-
mer at a tournament in California. Later
he returned to Canada to successfully de-
fend his national title in Calgary.
Normally, Neeb throws the horseshoes

30 feet since he competes at the junior
level, and he is quite proficient, but at the
Wingham tourney the distance was 40 feet.
In the preliminary round for the world
championship he posted a ringer percen-
tage of 74.5 while counting seven wins.
In the finals he upped his percentage to
80.7 while winning 11 matches.
On the "B" side of the tournament San-
dra Rivett of Dungannon and Jo -Ann
Woods of Chesley teamed to win as they
recorded six wins in single round play
games up to 40 points.
Ivan Rivett of Goderich and Dennis
Chambers of Delhi took second spot.
Fun and fitness
The Lucknow Recreation Department
has announced a special way to control
that couch potatoe urge...fitness classes.
Two different fitness classes will be
available for ladies only and will be held
Monday and Thursday evenings. The first,
a Stretch and Tone class, will begin at 6:30
p.m. This is a gentle workout aimed at in-
creasing flexibility, muscle tone and
circulation.
The second classes, titled Activation, is
an action packed class which will offer
both high and low impact routines as well
as resistance exercises. This class will
begin at 7:15 p.m. two nights per week.
Any ladies interested in these wonderful
ways to cure the winter blahs are asked to
register Thursday, November 10 in the
recreation room at the Lucknow Sports
Complex. The cost is $35 for a 12 week
session.

Trail permits available
Spooks and goblins set the scene for the
Bluewater Town and County Snowmobile
Club's annual Halloween Dance held Sun-
day night. Prizes went to Mike
Smolenaars, Deddie Hedley, Eleanor
Johnson, Gary Douglas, Rob Johnson,
Diane Spordge and Ron George.
From the 50-50 Draw held during the
evening, Marj Hayes took home $37 while
the other 50 percent was donated to the Ar-
thritis Society.
The local snowmobile club will hold its
third meeting of the season on November
15 at their clubhouse located one -and -a -
quarter miles south of Bervie at the
former Southline Schoolhouse. New
members are welcomed to attend.
The O.F.S.C. trail permits this year will
cost $45 per machine up until December 15.
After that date, trail permits will increase
to $55 so get yours early. This fee also in-
cludes a membership to the Bluewater
Club.
If you wish to ride the trails this season,
please support them by purchasing a trail
permit and joining your local club.

This is your last reminder to take ad-
vantage of the advance polls being stag-
ed for the municipal elections. Election
day is Monday, November 14 but ad-
vance polls will be held Saturday,
November 5 and Thursday, November
10.
If, for some reason, you are unable to
vote on the 14th, take advantage of the
advance polls. Exercise your right and
vote. Remember, X marks the spot.
Brian Knechtel of the Lucknow Village Market was the top bidder for the Reserve Cham-
pion Steer sold at the Huron -Bruce 411 Show and Sale held Thanksgiving Day. The steer
was raised by Darlene Black of the Lucknow Club. Local customers of the Village
Market are welcomed to enter the special draw being made for a hind quarter of this ex-
ception steer. Brian and Darlene are shown here with the prize winning animal.
