Anglican parish welcomes Atwell
David` Atwell is the new priest for St.
Peter's Lucknow, Church of Ascension
Kinlough and St. Paul's, Ripley.
Mr. Atwell and his wife Jean moved to
Lucknow from Ambridge, Pennsylvania
the last week of September and he took
o . Lr the parish the first of October.
Prior to entering the ministry, Mr.
Atwell had worked for 22 years in industry
in the marketing division for IBM.
He spent five years in the seminary
preparing for the ministry, graduating
from Trinity Episcopal School for
Ministry, Ambridge in May 1988.
The Atwells have two grown children,
Lisa, 20, who lives in Ohio and Bruce, 25, a
law student in Anaheim, California.
Mr. Atwell will be ordained to the Holy
and Sacred Order of Deacons on
November 19, at 11 a.m. , in St. Peter's
Church, Lucknow.
The ordination will be conducted by
Right Rev. E. Robert Townshend, Suf-
fragan Bishop of Huron. This is a first time
that an ordination has been conducted in
St. Peter's.
A well-known figure, The Rev. Dr.
Terence Kelshaw will take the service at
the ordination.
While the Atwells moved from a city
with a population of 17,000, they are finding
great enjoyment in living a small com-
munity where the people are so receptive
and friendly.
David Atwell
Art and Mary Stewart attended the wed-
ding of their grandnephew, Dana Andrew
Doherty and Shelley Lynn Thom, on Fri-
day evening, October 14. Dana is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Doherty and Shelley is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thom.
Many people, friends and relatives from
the area attended the reception at Saltford
Valley Hall after.
Senior Citizens held their regular
Wednesday night card party with 10 tables.
High man was Nels Pearson, low man
Larry Lee, high lady Helen Nicholson, low
lady Aileen Trommer.
Mrs. William Henderson and Mrs.
Evelyn Little of Lucknow Presbyterian
Church visited with Art and Mary Stewart
on Thursday.
Beth and Ken visited with Art and Mary
Stewart on Friday afternoon and evening.
Ladies lost in shoot!
Jim and Margaret Errington, Roger and
Elsie Pannabecker,Ross and Glenna Pan-
nabecker attended the 40th wedding an-
niversary of Margaret's brother and wife,
Earl and Ruby Dahmer at Cambridge on
Sunday.
Art and Mary Stewart attended the
sacrament of baptism at Lucknow United
Church for their great grandaughter,
Kelsie Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Randy Alton. Seven grandprents attended
as well as aunts and uncles. Blair Alton
and Brenda Buckingham were named god-

ly dinner was held at Mr. and Mrs. Alton's
following the service.
Dungannon Union C.G.I.T.
On October 15, the CGIT girls along with
their leader, Penny Hodges, served up
delicious hot dogs, donuts, coffee and
lemonade at the Fall Flea Market at
Dungannon Agricultural Hall.
The CGIT met on October 19 at
Brookside School. It was "bring a friend
night" and there were 23 girls in atten-
dance. They divided into two groups. One
playing bnasketball, the other volleyball.
Later they switched groups. Relays were
enjoyed by everyone before they had a
short meeting and went over the song that
was to be sung on Sunday. Closed with
taps.
On October 23, the CGIT took part in the
church service at Dungannon. Alison Cur-
ran read the call to worship, Tammy
Roberts and Denise Curran read the
scriputres with Jody Riley reading from.
the service book. The whole group led in
the children's story which was in the form
of an action song.
Hallowe'en is on Monday - watch for the
ghosts and goblins at your door. Happy
halloween to all my readers!
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Page returned home
on the weekend after spending a month
visiting and sight-seeing in Scotland,
Ireland and Wales. Glad you are safely
home again. We missed you.
David Rhody who spend a week here
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Rhody, has returned to Ottawa.
Mrs. Cora Thompson of Kincardine, Ed-
na and May Boyle of here, Miss Norma
Coutts of Wingham and Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Pearce of Brantford were guests
of Mrs. Jean Hodgins in Wingham on
Friday.
Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Christensen
returned home after attending the con-
ference at Barrie.
Miss Laura Hodgins visited on Friday at
Kincardine with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burt.
On Monday, Edna and May Boyle and
Mrs. Elizabeth Fair were dinner guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott at Ripley.
Mrs. Janet Nielson and Daniel from
Bracebridge visited for a few days with
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Don Bushell.

The Kinlough Presbyterian WMS fall
thankoffering meeting was held last
Wednesday afternoon, when visitng sister

organizations were present.
Mrs. Bert Thompson, president, was
chairperson and extended a welcome to
all.
Mrs. Tom McDonald greeted the guests
on arrival and introduced the guest
speaker Mrs. (Rev)Baird, who gave a
most inspiring talk.
A poem and the scriptures were read by
Mrs. Bert Thompson.
Mrs. William MacPherson organist and
Mrs. Bruce Bushell favoured with a duet.
Mrs. MacPherson read a poem. Mrs. Don
Robertson thanked the speaker.
Mrs. Don McEwan and Mrs. Alex Percy
received the offering and the president
gave the offertogy prayer.
Suitable hymns were sang throughout
the meeting and the benediction closed the
meeting. Refreshments and a time of
fellowship were enjoyed. _
