The Brookside Broadcast editors would
like to try something new, so we decided to
have a quiz about four or five times this
year. We will give you four clues to solve
each puzzle. The first three correct
answers we receive will win. For this quiz
you have to name the country.
This week's clue is: It is the only country
where you can't buy a car unless you have
proof that you have a place to park it off
the streets.
Room 4
The Room 4 Wonder Castle has spent
this week in the• Great Hall learning about
Knights and life in the days of castles. We
enjoYed a visit to Miss Morton's room to
see a wonderful film showing how a page
became a squire, and then a knight.
Both classes also had a great trip to the
Wawanosh Valley Nature Centre, to learn
more about trees and woodlands. In Art
we're learning to weave, and we're mak-
ing woven "Castle" placemats.
Grade 5, P1
Mrs. Worsell's Grade Five class wishes
a speedy recovery to Mike Culbert who
broke his leg on Wednesday.
Room 6
The Room 6 Readers have been writing
every day for almost two week so that they
can have a Halloween newspaper ready
before October 31st. The newspaper has
been named the Slimepit Sentinel and

The Resource Room
The library assistants began their
library duties this week and they have
been kept very busy.
Many people have been using the Icon
computers that are now located in the
library.'Some of the programs are being
used as a math activity or a writing
activity.
Research is being done by the people in
Rooms 4 and 9. Some of these grade three
people are finding information about mer-
maids, dragons, castles and knights. The
people in portable three are researching
the fence row community.
Grade 7 Rm. 10
Nothing much is happening right now,
except that we started the Cat Tests. We
are also starting to read to the
kindergarten and grade 1-2 students.
Kindergarten 1
We are decorating our room for
Hallowe'en. On Thursday we made can-
died apples. Next week we will be visiting
the Wawanosh Nature Centre.
Grade 7-8, Room 8
The Grade 7-8 class has been going to
shop and home ec for a month and a half.
All of the grade 8 are in home ec and the
ten grade 7 are in shop. The grade 7 have
got a good start on their projects; like
plastic, wood and bowls on the lathe. The
grade 8 have been working with the grade
8 program and making bean bags. We
have all enjoyed this very much!
Kindergarten 2
Mrs. Young's kindergarten II class has
been very busy this fall! Right now we are
doing many Hallowe'en crafts. In math,
we have been classifying many different
things. On Tuesday we are going to the
Wawanosh Nature Centre for "Autumn
Walk, Autumn Talk."
Grade 5-6, Room 7
Mr. Spittal's grade 5-6 class has been
working with the Icons on the writing
program.
His class is also making haunted houses
in French class.
We are having fun making Monster
Mazes.
For art we painted fall scenes, which are
beautiful.
Grade 2, Room 3
This week we made Junk Monsters out of
boxes, egg cartons, paint, construction
paper, buttons, glue, tape and paper rolls.
Grade 6, Room 12
This week room 12 began with fun and
games. Everyone brought games to
school. We read the rules and played them
in reading period. The games were fun,
challenging, taught us some skills and we
learned to work in groups. Now we are
making games of our own. We have to
B ROOKSIDE BROADCAST
write down the rules and explain how the
game is to work. Next week should be fun
on "games" day when we share the games
we made in class.
Grade 3, Rm. 9
Miss Morton's class is well into their
"Dragons and Castles" theme unit. We've
been learning about the days of castles,
dragons, knights and ladies. Next week we
hope to build shields and castles during
craft centre time.
