KINDERGARTEN
This week we learned shapes and the col-
our green.
We can now blast off to the moon with
our own rocket ship. We painted it and cut
out circles for portholes.
We are learning to work the computers
and there is enough for each of us. Soon we
will be really computer wizards.
GRADE ONE
Everyone in Grade One enjoyed the
"Snow" treat, and we were well dressed
for making snowmen with hats, boots,
snowsuits, and mitts. Just a dress rehear-
sal for the real thing!
We are thinking of "rhymes" and trying
to make a rhyming book with our good
ideas. In art, we participated drawing
"people". We had fun painting inside our
crayon lines.
Alexis is "Special Me" this week. She
brought her favourite toys.
A big thank you to Mrs. Thompson for
teaching us on Tuesday when Mrs. Bell
was away.
GRADE TWO
We have been introduced to our new unit
in Environmental Studies entitled zoo
animals. Weare looking forward to star-
ting our centres.
It is great fun on the computers. Each of
us has had a turn to operate an Icon and we
look forward to going to the computer
room as often as we can.
GRADE 2/3
Grade 2/3 would like to thank the
parents who attended Open House and our
Thanksgiving Assembly.
Eleven students were away to the Cross
Country run at Ainsdale Golf Course on
Thursday. They were Mike, Alicia, Erin,
Clint, Carrie, Heather, Sherri, Cameron,
Tom, Ean, and Steven. What a good time
they had!
We are enjoying the new computers this
week and hope to havemany more fun
lessons with them.
GRADE 3/4
Many people in our class went to the
Cross Country meet at the Ainsdale golf
course and represented L.C.P.S. in fine
fashion, in the wet and muddy conditions.
Congratulations to all for their fine efforts.
Mr. Dennis' leafs are 2 and 2 in the year,
and we are confident that the Toronto
Leafs will do much better this year.
In art class, we made the notorious sym-
bols of Halloween. The witches were cut
out of paper plates and other scraps of
material we could find.
We are now busy doing vocabulary and
stories in our Halloween Unit.
GRADE FOUR
This week we have started doing timed
math addition papers. Our scores are get-
ting better every day.
Yesterday for art we started our paper
mache Halloween masks.
Grade 4 has become a Monster Madness
house. We are researching different
monsters such as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness
Monster and Werewolves.
Our star of the week was Meechelle
Wismer.
GRADE 5
This week we are making a haunted
house for Halloween. Grades
Kindergarten to four will be going through
it.
Amy Sutherland, Jenn Jones, Doug
Johnson, Mike Jonson, Mitch Harris and
Curt Humphrey were at the Cross Country
meet yesterday and did very well.
We would like to thank Mrs. Hamilton,
Mrs. Gilchrist and Mrs. Price for filling in
for Mr. Bennet this week.
GRADE 6
This week in Creative Writing we have
been making poems, changing "Wonka-
Vite" into our own crazy poem.
We also had a test in Geography and
were fairly successful.
Some of the grade sixes went to cross-
country and did very well.
GRADE7
Grade 7 began a new assignment in
history - a study of the history of Lucknow.
Also, we had our first visit to the Icon
computers where we tested out our artistic
abilities with the Draw Program. In the

future we ...plan to learn how to use the
processor.
We have finally reached the end of our
unit on fractions in mathematics.
However, we are still trying , to find
ourselves using latitude and longtitude in
Geography.
GRADE8
Do grade 8 students really like poetry?
To answer this question, we have embark-
ed upon a unit in which we will "ex-
perience" this form of writing. Many con-
verts are likely to result.
SKIPPING CLUB
A small group of our students have been
working very hard perfecting their skipp-
ing skills this fall. As a result of their ef-
forts, they have earned the right to be
Bruce County's Heart and Stroke Founda-
tion's demonstration team!
CROSS COUNTRY
On Wednesday, October 12 we were sup-
posed to go to Ainsdale Golf Course for a
regional Cross Country meet but we were
snowed out.
Thursday was a better day and all our
L.C.P.S. runnersran, well. In the mud and
slime our runners ran. A big Congratula

Many neighbours, friends and relatives
gathered at the Karashia hall last Satur-
day evening to honour Herb and Mary
Buckton on their 50th wedding anniver-
sary. June Gilchrist presided over the very
enjoyable program of games and music
which made a delightful evening.
Bob Gilchrist read the address to the
bride and groom of 50 years. Gert De Jong
presented them with a beautiful table
plant and flowers. A bountiful lunch was
served.
Herb and Mary were guests of a family
dinner on Sunday at the Vandom Hotel at
Teeswater. Dr. Bill and Lee and George
