HEREBY provide notice to the electors of the Township of Huron
qualified to vote at a municipal election.
NOTICE IS HEREBY, given in accordance with the MUNICIPAL ACT,
MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS ACT, and persuant to By-law No. 24-88 passed
on the 2nd day of August, 1988, under the Authority of the LIQUOR
LICENCE ACT, that a poll Is to be held in conjunction with 1988
Municipal Elections, to obtain the opinion of the Electors with respect
to the following questions.
1. ARE YOU IN FAVOUR OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF GOVERNMENT
STORES FOR THE SALE OF SPIRITS, WINE AND BEER?
2. ARE YOU IN FAVOUR OF THE SALE OF SPIRITS, BEERAND WINE
UNDER A DINING LOUNGE. LICENCE FOR CONSUMPTION ON
LICENSED PREMISES WHERE FOOD 1S AVAILABLE?
The date fixed for taking the Poll shall be Monday the 14th day of
November, 1988.

improved because of the efforts of Brian
Mulroney and Joe Clark, said Beatty.
And Canada's armed forces have the
first new mandate in 16 years — "in the
Trudeau-Turner years they couldn't even
be bothered to give them a new mandate"
— and the government's commitment to
give them the tools to do the job right.
He emphasized the Soviet threat and
repeatedly spoke of the need to "bargain
from a position of strength."
The proposed nuclear -powered sub-
marines, currently under criticism from
the Liberal and NDP parties, will allow
Canada to patrol the Arctic ocean for the
first time, he said.
The cost of the submarines will not cut
into social programs, he said.
"They will cost some $300 million over a
period of 27 years. That's one-half of one
per cent of what we'll spend on social pro-
grams during that same period."
Nor will they be armed with nuclear
weapons.
"They'll be conventionally armed," he
said. "Nothing contravenes the Nuclear
Non -Proliferation Treaty."
He added, however, that major and
significant.advances have also been made
in arms control during Mulroney's time in
office.
"The prospect for peace is .better now
than ever before," he said.
Kinloss council meets
Kinloss Council met for the regular
meeting on October 3 and for a special
'meeting on September 19, Reeve Barry
Johnston and all council members were
present for both meetings.
An ad is to be placed in the Lucknow Sen-
tinel for two weeks advertising tenders to
sell a 14' x 16' folding door with hardware,
tenders to be in the Road Superintendent's
office by November 5 at 5:00 p.m.
Building permit applications were ac-
cepted for the Huron -Kinloss Municipal
Telephone System for a switching equip-
ment building; an addition to a residence
for Kevin Murray; a sun room for Allen
McArthur and a grain storage for John
Stein.
The engineer's report on the Royal Oak
Creek Extention 1988 was provisionally
adopted and a by-law for same was given
two readings.
Council accepted the proposal of Carl G.
Reinhardt Ltd: to install a screwed, col-
oured, 26 gauge roof over the existing roof
of the Kinloss Township municipal
building for a tendered price of $32,985.54
plus R-40 insulation for $5,226.00. The pro-
posed work is to be completed within eight
weeks of the acceptance of the contract.

The Huron County Milk Producers Dairy
Princess Ball was held on Saturday, Oc-
tober 15 at the Howick Community Centre.
There were three contestants vying for the
crown: Miss Laura Hallahan of R.R. 3
Blyth; Miss Marlene Albers of R.R. 2
Bluevale; and Miss Lisa Boonstoppel of
R.R. 1 Auburn.
Miss Marlene Albers was selected as
Miss Congeniality. Marlene is the
daughter of Peter and Helen Albers and is
17 years old. She attends F.E. Madill
Secondary School in Wingham.
The new 1988-1989 Huron County Dairy
Princess is Miss Lisa Boonstoppel,
daughter of Hans and Audrey Boonstoppel.
Lisa is 19 years old and is in her second
year of journalism at Humber College in
Toronto.
As the new Huron County Dairy
Princess, Lisa will be available to promote
milk and milk products throughout the
County. Her role is to improve com-
munications between the communing
public and the milk and cream producers
of her County.
