Bruce Presbyterial makes plans
The Executive of Bruce Presbyterial
U.C.W. met at Lucknow United Church on
Monday, September 12th. Twenty-one ex-
ecutive and twenty-eight representatives
from the local churches were present.
Coffee and muffins were available on ar-
rival, prepared by the host church ladies.
Laura Lee Cayley, President of Lucknow
U.C.W., . welcomed the meeting to
Lucknow.
Laura Williams, President of Bruce
Presbyterial, welcomed everyone. She
read from Proverbs 2: 1-15, the Rewards of
Wisdom, and followed with a prayer. The
meeting was constituted open to the
business of the day. The minutes of the
previous meeting were approved. The
treasurer's report was given by Dorothy
Domm. Reports were presented on the
Carrick Camp Retreat in June, on the
Hamilton Conference U.C.W. Executive
Meeting, and on the 32nd General Council
of the United Church in Victoria, B.C. in
August. There will be a School for Leaders
at Five Oaks on October 5th and 6th; fif-
teen ladies agreed to represent Bruce
Presbyterial.
After discussion, the following
workshop/rallies were planned. The Fall
Festival of Ideas will be held for Area 1 on
October 17th at Tara, for Area 2 on October
18th at Underwood, for Area 3 on October
17th at Clifford, for Area 4 on October 26th

24th at Arthur. Further details and times
will be sent to the local U.C.W.'s by their
Area Co-ordinator.
In the afternoon, the Leadership Divi-
sion presented the programme. The theme
was "Learning on the Way". Several
ladies took part to show the ways we learn
through the years. There is a kit available
on 'this theme and parts of it were used.
Also, leaders of church groups were there
to speak on different groups - Messengers,
Explorers, CGIT, Youth, and Sunday
School. Learning is a ministry, and we
have a ministry. The Leadership Division
lead us in a closing worship, using a
filmstrip entitled, "Keromamang: Whom
Shall I Send?" This is a resource available
for our Mission Study on South Africa. The
Hymn, The Lord is my Shepherd, was
sung, followed by prayer.
Laura Williams gave the thanks for the
day. The meeting adjourned shortly after 3
p.m. The next executive meeting will be in
Elmwood, November 21, with the Steward-
ship in charge. Please bring a canned food
item.
St. Helen's WI sticks to one theme
The theme of St. Helen's Women's In-
stitute meeting was Family and Consumer
Affairs held October 3.
Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs.
Janet McPherson, Mrs. Clifford Menary
and Mrs. Harold Cooper.
The Institute Ode was followed by Mary
Stewart Collect. The rollcall a receipe for
dessert that your family enjoys, was
answered by 14 members and one visitor.
Mrs. Leroy Rintoul presided for the
meeting.
Mrs. Harold Cooper read the minutes
and Mrs. Keith Tyler gave the financial
statement.
A report was given on the Huron County
37th Women's Institue Rally at Hensall, on
October 3, by Mrs. Harold Cooper. The
Theme Waste Management and Recycling
was given by Mrs. Lloyd Moffat. The
speaker was Nyle Ludloph a represen-
tative of Advisory Bureau Recycling Coun-
cil of Ontario:
Remembrance Day service will be
November 6 with Mrs. Bruce Raynard m
charge. Card parties will begin October 24.
Minutes of Yester Year 1980 were given
by Mrs. Bruce Raynard.
Mrs. Ross Errington introduced Miss
JoAnne Richter, Project Co-ordinator of
Huron County Waste Management Master
Plan of Goderich.
"Harvest Home" set the scene for UCW
St. Andrew's United Church Women,
Ripley held its Thanksgiving meeting at the
United Church on Oct. 4. The leader for Unit
5 Judy Coiling extended greetings, and
hymn "Harvest Home" was sung. The
scripture Psalm 100 was read by the Unit
leader and a skit with the theme "Count
Your Blessings" was portrayed by the unit
members.
The offering was received by Margaret
Smith and Mary Black and dedicated by
Judy Colling.
The guest speaker, Mrs. Dan Armstrong
from Lucknow was introduced by Mary
Now Dogs And Cats Must Be Vaccinated
Black. She spoke on how "God gives us life
through what we live." Mrs. Armstrong was
presented with a gift of appreciation by
Judy Coiling.
The business portion of the meeting was
concluded by President Shirley Harris
followed by 35 members answering the roll
call.
Details are being finalized for the U.C.W.
Bazaar and Luncheon to be held at the
Church on Oct. 29 at 11:30 am.
The meeting was closed by repeating the
U.C.W. benediction led by Shirley Harris.
Grace was sung, followed by a lunch served
by Unit 5.

Some people are saying
that oil heat is old-fashioned.
Maybe. Oil dealers do give you good old-fashioned "I'll be right over"
service. They're not like the huge gas or electric utilities. I feel like
my oil dealer knows me. And oil heat equipment is more efficient, more
economical, clean, safe.
If that makes oil heat old-fashioned, then I guess I'm just an
old-fashioned kinda guy.
