Happenings in the grove
Wilbur and Vera Haldenby visited with
their niece, Marjorie Thompson and other
relatives and friends this past weekend.
Also visiting during the week with Marj
Thompson were: Kay Thacker, Helen and
Ray Stanley, Bert and Eva Nicholson, Jim
and Helen Haldenby, Wanda Gawley, Isabel
Brooks, Mary MacDonald, Clayton
Nicholson and Amelia Cummings.
Henry and Jackie Pope of Paisley & Ken
and Debbie McCulloch of Port Elgin visited
with Ken and Brenda Bridge and family on
Saturday.,
Tom and Maryse Cole and children
Cameron, Christopher and Suzanne spent a
few days near North Bay at Lake Nosbon-
signg with Tom's sister Julie Mortpn and
her family. On the way there, the Cole's
stopped at Santa's Village. Cameron en-
joyed fishing with Uncle Rob and caught the
biggest fish - a pickerel! They returned by
the Chi-Cheemaun. On Saturday night, the
Cole's enjoyed a corn roast at Pine River.
Bob Grieve from Monetiville, Ont. 'visited
Wanda Gawley on Saturday.
Tammy and Kimberly MacDonald of
South Porcupine visited last week with their
grandparents Wilda and Harvie Thompson.
Marion Gamble attended a great-
nephew's wedding in Chatham on Saturday.
His name is Kenne'h Smith. Marion also
called on Wilfred Gamble at Parkwood
Hospital, London, who is poorly at the pre-
sent time. He used to live in the house where
John and Joyce Farrell live now.
Joan MacDonald and Lucas returned
home to South Porcupine on Wednesday
after spending the, summer wtih relatives
here and in Toronto.
Wayne and Lorraine Kerr were at Lor-
raine's brothers' on Sunday - Gary and
Barry McTeer at Paisley.
Elgin and Irene Routledge of Lenore,
Manitoba visited on the farm with Francis
and Irene Boyle on Thursday.
Don and Anne McCosh visited Currie Col-
well on Saturday and with Gertrude Walsh
in Kincardine on Sunday. Recent guests of
McCosh's were Mrs. Audrey Schandlen of
Gladys Arnold visited recently with Olive
and Hector Knight at Picton.
DICKSON - BROOKS
James M. Dickson of Kincardine and
Kathryn Jean Brooks of RR 1; Lucknow,
were united in holy matrimony in Lucknow
United Church by Rev. Allison Ramsay on
August 6, 1988. James is the son of Betty -
Dickson of Tiverton and the late Willis
Dickson. Kathy's parents are Gordon and
Shirley Brooks, of RR 1, Lucknow. The
bride's sister, Ruth Savage of RR 1, Kin-
cardine acted as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were' three friends of the
bride, Denise Gilchrist, RR 5 Lucknow;
Shelly Cowan, Brampton and Darlene
Campbell, Tiverton. Two young nieces of
the bride, Alexa Savage and Meagan Rem-
ington of Griffin, Georgia, were
flowergirls. Dylan Lebold, RR 1, Saltford,
Ontario, a nephew of the groom was
ringbearer. Groomsman was Roland
Dupuis, RR 3, Tiverton, a friend of the
groom, while John Dickson, Tiverton and
Don Brooks, Lucknow, respective brothers
of the groom and bride, along with Tom
Pettigrew of Brampton, a friend, acted as
ushers. Music was provided by Dale
Gilchrist, organist and the trio of Norma
MacIntyre, Marilynne Gilchrist and
Margaret deBoer. A reception was held in
the Lucknow Community Centre. The
newlyweds honeymooned in the Pocono
Mountains. They will reside at 634
Johnston Crescent, Kitchener. (Snyder

Thresher's Reunion in Blyth on Sunday.
Wray and Linda Thompson of
Mississauga spent the weekend with Harvie
and Wilda Thompson.
Get well wishes go to John Farrell who
was a patient in Kincardine Hospital last
week.

Henry Charles Lester
Hazelden
Les Hazelden, a resident of the Village of
Lucknow for the past 17 years, formerly of
Toronto, died in Wingham and District
Hospital on September 6, 1988, in his 73rd
year.
Mr. Hazelden was retired, having been a
tool and dye maker at General Electric in
Toronto for 22 years, and at Chemical Pro-
jects in Toronto for seven years. Upon
moving .to Lucknow, be became a local
businessman owning and operating
Lucknow Machine & Welding Shop.
Mr. Hazeldon was a member of St.
Peter's Anglican Church, Lucknow and a
member of the Masonic Order - Maple
Leaf Lodge, Toronto.
He was born in Beckenham, County of
Kent, England on November 5, 1915.
Mr. Hazelden married the former
Gladys Penrose of T.iirknow. at St. Chad's
Anglican Church, in Toronto, on
September 18, 1943.
OBITUARY
Besides his wife, he leaves to survive his
daughters, Diana Lynn Peck and her hus-
band Bob of Lucknow and Donna Lois
Evans and her husband Brian, also of
Lucknow; a sister Ella Marks of Orillia;
one grandaughter, Amanda Anne Peck, as
well as several nieces, nephews, great
nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at the MacKenzie and Mc-
Creath Funeral Home, Lucknow.
The funeral service was conducted by
Rev. M. Letson from St. Peter's Anglican
Church, Lucknow, on Friday September 9.
Anne Pritchard was the organist.
Pallbearers were Randy Alton, Donnie
Gaunt, Barry Hackett, Calvin Mc-
Clenaghan, Peter VanDam and Rob
Skipper.
