MacLennans host corn roast on the beach
Bayne and Marion MacLennan of
Amberley recently entertained at a corn
roast which was held at their beach, Bryan
and Ray Elmsie and their two children
Michael and Kathie of Wingham and Allan
and Berle MacDonald of Kintail.
Jim and Cecil, Webster of Waterloo and
their mother, Kae Webster attended the
wedding reception on Saturday evening in

PARISHISCHOOL
Two well deserving ladies from the
Kingsbridge parish were recently
nominated to receive the Air Canada
Heart of Gold Award. To be nominated,
one must be very active in the community
and the two nominated are more than
deserving of this honor. Congratulations
to Teresa Courtney and Betty Lou Dalton.
The Father McCormack Council of the
Knights of Columbus held the installation
of their executive at the first Friday mass
of September 2. They are now preparing
for an active and productive year.
The parish community is very happy to
welcome Brad and Anna Lewis, son Jason
and daughter Laura. The Lewis's are
residing in the former Lawrence and
Marianne Hogan home in Kingsbridge.
August 31 was volunteer day at Maitland
Manor for the Kingsbridge ladies and
several ladies from the parish spent an
afternoon visiting with the residents.
Classes resumed on Tuesday September
6 at St. Joseph's School .with an enrollment
of 77 students including eight new students
in Kindergarten and new student Jason
Lewis in Grade 2. First time students in
Mrs. Jackie Simpson's Kindergarten are
Nicole Quinlan, Erin Sherratt, Martina
Poganatz, Meghan Martin, David Dalton,
Cory Robertson, Adam Miltenburg and
Brian Stanley. Other returning staff
members are Mrs. Barb Eedy, Grades 1
and 2; Mrs. Jo -an Ballen, Grades 3 and 4;
Miss Tracey, Devlin, Grades 5 and 6, and
Grades 4 to 8 French; Mr. Phil Antonio,
Grades 7 and . 8; Mrs Cathy Drennan,
Special Education and Library/Resource;
Mrs. Marianne Hogan, Music; Mr. Sandy
McQuillan, Principal and Grades 3 and 4.;
Mrs. Teresa Hickey, Secretary; and Mrs.
Jean VanRooy, Custodian.
During the summer months many
changes and improvements took place at
the school. The roof of the school was
replaced as well as the fascia.
A new room was constructed in the nor-
th-west corner of the stage for general
storage and storage of all physical educa-
tion equipment. This room, along with the
stage all received a new coat of paint.
New desks and chairs have arrived or
are arriving shortly for the Grades 3 to 8
classrooms while the Grade 1 and 2
students have new tables and chairs. As
well, new office and filing equipment and
three new ICON computers have become
part of the school furnishings.
On September 7 the students were given
a presentation by Sunsweet for the selling
of crystal bells (Christmas tree or-
naments) and a winter geese collection.
Students will now be able to look forward
to Hot Dog Days every second Wednesday
as well as juice available at lunch time.
We wish staff and students a happy and
successful school year.

Lucknow at the Community Centre for
Holly MacDonald, daughter of Lorne and
Doreen MacDonald, and Clinton Stumps of
Seaforth. There was a very good atten-
dance. At the reception we were very
pleased to see Mrs. Maxine (Lorne)
Luther of Ridgetown a former resident of
the area.
Charles and Mayme Wilkins had a large
number of their family on the weekend
which also included Stella Irwin and her
son Lloyd of Kinloss township and Laura
and Mabel Campbell of Toronto.
On Sunday Kae Webster attended a
shower in Kincardine for Sharon Plugg of
Guelph. The shower was held at the home
of Sharon's future sister-in-law Gizelle
(Andrew) Watson. Sharon received many
Iovey and useful gifts.
The community would like to con-
gratulate Shawn and Laurie Dalton on the
safe arrival of their son John Mark in the
Alexandra Hospital in Goderich on August
30. John Mark weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz. A wee
brother for Angela. The proud grand-
parents are Clarice Dalton of Kingsbridge
and Ernie and Mary Gibson of Point Clark
and great grandmother, Esther Gibson of
Goderich.
Congratulations to Lester and Audrey
Ferguson on the arrival of their fourth
child Stuart Reed son of Ken and Joan
Eadie. A wee brother for Janice. Stuart
Reed was born in St. Joseph's Hospital
London.
Recent visitors with Rhetta and Marion
MacLennan was Rod and Bernice
MacLennan of Mississauga and Colin
MacLennan of Agincourt.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb visited with
Mrs. Robb's sister and brother-in-law
Lenard and Mary Eccles of Holstein on
Sunday.
Visiting for 10 days with Mr. and Mrs.
Art Mathewman were their daughter and
son-in-law Margo and Terry Pettis and
their three boys, Jamie, Beau and Mat-
thew of Prescott.
On Monday Kae, Jim and Cecil Webster
visited in Goderich with Mrs. Norma
Young.
Mrs. Barbara Rogerson and Mr. Allen
Finlayson, both of Toronto have visited
with their mother Mrs. Dorothy Finlayson
recently.
