Holywood WI meets
Mrs. Frank Maulden spent a few days at
Sudbury with her friend Mrs. John Pope.
Mrs. Don Bertrand and family of Simcoe
spent a few days with her aunt, Miss Win-
nifred Percy, and with her brothers, Bill
and Brian Percy.
On Tuesday Miss Winnifred Percy and
her niece Joan Bertrand and her daughter
Becky spent the day at London.
Mrs. Lula Stanley of Lucknow was a sup-
per guest on Wednesday at the Manse with
Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Christensen.
Mrs. Kay Thacker, South Line, Amanda
Cumming of Port Elgin. Mrs. Marjorie
Thompson of Ripley and Mr. and Mrs.
Walbert Haldenby of Toronto visited on

Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mac-
Pherson were his sister and her husband
Mr. and Mrs. Carol Schroeder of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller enjoyed
the pig roast at their new neighbours, the
Le Bretorsons, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murray and Mr.
Bill Percy visited m Listowel on Monday
evening to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Brooks to celebrate an anniversary and
also some birthdays.
Mrs. Alex Percy, Mr. and Mrs. Glen
Haldenby, Eric and Sara and Mr. and Mrs.
Rene Murray who attended the wedding of
Michael Jansen and Catherine Genier at
Cochrane on Aug. 20th returned home, but
Sara remained for a holiday with her Aunt
and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jansen, and
other relatives. She returned home on

Miss Susan McGregor of Scarborough
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Percy.

meeting opened with the Ode and The
Mary Stewart Collect.
The roll call was a childhood memory.
Mrs. Douglas McEwan read the minutes
and financial report. A thank you note was
read from Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith.
Arrangements were made for the area
convention at Hepworth and also the Fall
Rally at Underwood. A display will be set
up at the Lucknow Fall Fair. The packets
were handed out for the Arthritic Canvass,
and a generous donation made to the
township council for the new roof.
The secretary was to write for further in-
formation regarding recycling of waste.
Mrs. Lloyd Johnston introduced the
speaker, Mrs. Marilyn Carruthers, direc-
tor of the Children's Play School which has
been operating for 11/2 years. She explain-
ed the activities and purpose of the school
and .gave the ladies a tour of the game
room and of the classroom which is so
nicely equipped. Some. little folks
demonstrated some of the play things as
Marilyn explained how the school
operated.
Mrs. Lloyd Johnston, on behalf of the
W.I., thanked Marilyn and presented her
with a gift to help with the work being
done.
Mrs. Delbert Hedley took over for the
program. Mrs. William MacPherson con-
ducted a contest on parts of our body. Mrs.
Don Bushell read "Today's modern grand-
mother" and "Why is grampa so grey".
Mrs. Agnes Hodgins read "When you
travel on life's highway." Following the
courtesies, delicious refreshments were
served by Mrs. Ellwood Elliott, 0 Canada
and the grace was sung and a social time
enjoyed.
Conveners were Mrs. Lloyd Johnston
and Mrs. Delbert Hedley.
Happy 50th
An open house was held on Sunday,
September 4 at the residence of George
and Olive Kennedy, 24 Wellington Street
North, Goderich, on the occasion of their
50th wedding anniversary.
The former Lucknow area couple has
lived in Goderich since selling their farm
on Highway 86 near Whitechurch in 1979.
They recieved dozens of friends,
neighbours and relatives, and thanked
wellwishers for cards, gifts and flowers.
Letters of congratulations and best
wishes were also received from Prime
Minister Brian Mulroney, Premier David
Peterson, Minister of Agriculture Jack
Riddell and Federal MP Murray Cardiff.
Mayor Eileen Palmer and the Town of
Goderich delivered a floral arrangement.
On Saturday, September 3, Mr. and Mrs.
Kennedy accompanied sons Bill of Toronto
and Jack of Stoney Creek to Stratford to
see the musical "My Fair Lady" in the
Festival Theatre.
Lorne and Hazel Hackett are happy to
announce the forthcoming marriage of
their daughter, Brenda Mary of Stratford,
to Brian Keith, son of Fred and Norma
Steele of Kirkton. The wedding will take
place on Saturday, September 24, 1988 at 4
p.m. at the Trinity Ashfield United
Church. Reception to follow at the
Lucknow Complex.
