PATRICIA ANN HODGINS RN
Patricia Ann Hodgins R.N. of RR4
Ripley, the former Patricia Ann Cronin of
Mildmay, passed away at University
Hospital in London on Friday, August 19,
1988 in her 41st year.
Patricia is the beloved wife of Dr.
Donald Hodgins, and the beloved mother
of David James, Janine Elizabeth and
Michael John Hodgins all of RR4 Ripley.
Surviving family members include her
parents, William and Martina Cronin,
Mildmay; a brother, Michael Cronin,
Mildmay; and sisters Annette of Kit-
chener, Joan Lobsinger of London, and
Rosemarie Fortney of Deemerton.
Patricia Ann Hodgins graduated as a
Regsitered Nurse in 1969 from St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, and worked as a nurse
at the Pinecrest Nursing Home in
Lucknow. She was also a part-time
employee at the Ripley post office and a

member of the Women's Auxiliary for
Minor Hockey.
The late Patricia Ann Hodgins rested at
the KacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home in Ripley until funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 1988.
Following cremation, interment in the
Ripley Huron Cemetery.
Honourary pallbearers included Michael
Cronin, John Hodgins, Allen Lobsinger,
Dave Fortney, Dan Wright and Murray
Culbert. Flower bearers were the nurses of
Pinecrest Nuring Home:. Marie Vollmer,
Dianne Elliott, Dianne Humphrey, Marie
Haldenby, Donna Crich, Jean Schoebl,
Helen Riegling, Lillian Pollard, Anne
Marie Tiffin, Carol Anne Menary, Peggy
Taylor and Marlene MacDonald.
Arthritis Society sees
the will to win
Twenty-one ladies attended the 40th An-
niversary meeting and tea of the Arthritis
Society held in the Town Hall on August 24.
Mrs. Jean Whitby, chairman of the
Lucknow and area branch, welcomed all to
the meeting and introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. Mary Guse, a Field
Representative of the Arthritis Society.
Mrs. Guse showed a film, "The Will to
Win - 40 Years of Caring". She also spoke
of the work being done, the advances in
care and showed a variety of articles
available to aid those with arthritic hands
or bodies. The articles included tongs to
pick things up for those who can't bend and
enlarged handles for those with crippled
hands.
The ladies asked a variety of questions
which were answered fully by Mrs. Guse.
She also took the opportunity to thank all
those who will take part in the September
Campaign locally to be held September 6
through 17.
Mrs. Betty Ritchie was presented with a
Blue Bird pin for 10 years of continuous
service.
Mrs. Catherine Andrew told the ladies
names of those who had received the pin
previously.
Anniversary cake was served and a
social time followed the meeting.
BIRTHS
BOLANDER - Don and Marjorie of Ford-
wich are happy to announce the safe ar-
rival of their new son, James Cody, on
August 16, 1988. Wee James weighed in at 7
lbs., 5 oz. at his birth in the Wingham and
District Hospital. Proud grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Pellett, Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Haverfield and George Bolander.
Wright - Alton
The McIntosh United Church, RR1 Clif-
ford, was the site of the summer wedding
of Sonja Elizabeth Jane Wright to Steven
George Alton. The ceremony was of-
ficiated by Rev. Ralph J. Knock.
The bride is the daughter of Graham and
Janice Wright, RR1 Clifford while the
groom is the son of Mrs. Dora Alton, RR2
Lucknow, and the late Blake Alton.
Attending the bride was maid of honour
Laurie McPherson, Teeswater, and
.bridesmaids Cathy Buchanan, a cousin of
the bride of Newmarket; Donna Alton, a
friend of the bride from Lucknow; Lisa
Thompson, cousin of the bride of
Wingham; and Paula Wright, the sister of
the bride of RR1 Clifford.
Joining the groom was groomsman
Stuart Alton, a brother of the groom from
RR2 Lucknow, and ushers George Alton,
RR2 Lucknow; Casey Hendricks, RR2
Lucknow; Steve Wright, brother of the
bride of RR1 Clifford; and Mitchel Wright,
brother of the bride also of RR1 Clifford.
Following a reception held at Belmore,
the couple spent their honeymoon travell-
ing north of Huntsville. Mr. and Mrs.
Steven Alton will reside in the Lucknow

community recognized
JUNIOR FARMERS PLAN
AWARDS DINNER
Huron County is world known for its
agricultural excellence. This excellence
comes from its dedicated people and
leaders. The Huron County Junior
Farmers are sponsoring an Agri -Food
Week dinner program to reward these
people.
The evening is entitled `Huron County:
An Agricultural Leader II'. The evening is
planned to recognize Huron County and its
agricultural excellence and as a kick off
for Agri -Food Week. The highlight of the
evening will be the presentation of the
Rural Leadership Awards to local people
for their outstanding leadership and con-
tribution to the rural community and
agriculture in Huron County.
Various guest speakers will be talking
about different aspects of Agri -Business.
The Dinner is Monday, October 3, 1988 at
7:00 pm in the Clinton,Legion.
The Huron County Junior Farmers will
welcome nominations for the Rural
Leadership Awards from individuals or
organizations until Friday, September 16,
