A record number of elementary students
from the Lucknow area participated in this
year's Lucknow Library's Summer
Reading Club. According to Fran McQuail,
Library supervisor, fortyof the forty-five
children registered completed the
program.
"We're very pleased so many children
and families are finding the library a good
source of recreation during the summer
months," she said.
This year was the fourth year the
Library has run a Summer Reading Pro-
gram for children grades 1 through 8. This
year's theme was "DINOSAUR DIG IN"
and as the readers completed their books
they jumped forward step by step on the
tracking poster to finally catch the
dinosaur when they had completed the
club's requirements. Each child was re-
quired to read 5 books by Canadian
authors and older children made a poster
about a book or wrote their own story.
Dinosaur trivia questions could be resear-
ched each week as well.
Wednesday evening, August 17th, was
the ' awards party. Seventy children,
friends and parents, gathered to watch the
movies and receive their awards. Each
