OMAF Summer Experience Wrap -Up
August 19; 1988 is the last day for the
operation of the 1988 Agricrew and Junior
Agriculturalist Programs in Bruce County
and the province. Over the approximately
50 days that each program ran, better than
40 farmers used the services of Agricrew
and six of the originally matched ten Jr.
Agriculturalists and host farmers suc-
cessfully completed their term. The Coun-
ty of Bruce had the services of two
Agricrews for the bulk of the summer and
a third crew for August. There were also
several farmers who wished to hire an
Agricrew but could not, due to the great
demand. Throughout Ontario, 134 out of an
original two hundred plus Jr. Ag.'s, the ur-
ban youths on family farms for 50 days
during the summer, lasted out the pro-
gram, so Bruce County faired about
average with other counties. Hopefully,
these two programs funded by O.M.A.F.
and the Ontario Ministry of Skills Develop-
ment have helped out farmers and young
people alike in Bruce County and
neighbouring townships, and a thank -you
is in order to all the farmers and students
who made the programs work.
