About 90 organizations will be eligible for assistance through project grants. "It is essential to recognize and rein- force the vital contributions of farm women to Canadian; agriculture," Mr. Wise said. The program is being designed to suport legal and economic equality for women, promote their increasing participation in decision making on the farm and recognize their important contribution to the well- being of the agriculture sector. "The Farm Women's Advancement Pro- gram will help women to continue pro- gressing and playing a greater role in deci- sion making in the agriculture business," Mr. Blais said. Criteria for determining priorities are now being finalized in consultation with farm women's groups across the country. Projects eligible for grants will likely in- cludeQnformation, education and training programs. Also eligible would be pro- grams aimed at presenting farm women's concerns to government, attendance at conferences, and programs to promote awareness of farm women's involvement in agriculture. The amount of federal funding will de- pend on the merits, funding priorities and other potential sources of support for each project. Farm women's issues. are defined as women's issues that have different ap- plications to farm women because of their special circumstances. These include economic security and equality, access to farm credit, child care and family responsibilities. Tom in London after accident Mr. and Mrs. Morley Bushell of Wingham and her mother Mrs. John Barr of here visited on Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burt at Kincardine. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bushell and son Adam of Wroxeter were recent visitors with Mrs. John Barr. Pastor and Mrs. Christensen enjoyed a nice visit on Tuesday at Point Clark at the cottage and a delicious barbecued supper with their niece and nephew Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lickens. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. James Rowe (Heather Smith) who were married at Holyrood on Saturday. The Holyrood Women's Institute served the dinner at the Lucknow Community Centre. INLOUGH by May Boyle The staff and correspondents (and their families) of the Teeswater News spent a pleasant day on Wednesday at Mr. and Mrs. Harry Helfenstein's cottage at Emmerton Beach, Lake Huron. The day was spent swimming, games and visiting, and all en- joyed the delicious food which was a smorgasbord buffet at noon and a barbecued supper. Everyone enjoyed the day and we owe our thanks to the Helfensteins for arranging the gathering and to Carol, our gracious hostess. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Murray on the birth of their baby son. A grandson for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murray. Mr. Tom Biglow had the misfortune to fall from his motorcycle on County Road 1 north of Kinlough. He was taken to a London hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Al Head of St. Catharines spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood Elliott, Bruce and David, Con. 8. A severe thunderstorm with high wind passed through this area on Sunday even- ing. Several trees were uprooted including one at Allan Miller's store at Holyrood which has been a landmark in this area. The Hydro was also off for some time but was restored during the night. Edna and May Boyle were Sunday supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. John Scott at Ripley. Senior's Day Centre By Gloria Workman We have lots of news to share with you at this time. There has been a staff change at the Day Centre for the Homebound. Pam Williams, the previous Director, has taken a giant ,step toward higher learning (to study Gerentology) at the University of Guelph. I have taken over the Director's role. I would like to introduce to you, the new Assistant Director, Christine Gibson of the Lucknow area. Christine holds a diploma in Recreation Leadership from Conestoga College and worked as a Recreation Co- ordinator at a Nursing Home in Kitchener, before corning to the Day Centre. We wish Pam the best of luck with her new endeavours and welcome Christine to the Centre. There are many activities planned for the month of August. During the first week 1 showed some slides of Vancouver that I had taken during my trip West last month. Rhoda MacKenzie, Heather's grand- mother from Lucknow will be visiting on August 16th to show us some slides from a Cross -Canada Tour, that she took while working as a tour guide for Bus Tours. On August 17th we will have a guest speaker, Graham Develeor from the Canadian Hearing Society who will give us some in- formation about hearing loss and tell us about special devices for people who have hearing difficulties. We are planning a trip to the Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend; to see, a play called Windfall about a family that wins $5 Million Dollars. The play is scheduled for Thursday, August 18th. More details will be available at a later date. The next foot clinic is planned for Wednesday, August 17th from 1 to 3 p.m. Please call 357-1440 or 1445 for an appointment. The Day Centre is required to do a cer- tain percentage of fundraising to meet the financial needs of operating the day cen- tre. A Bake Sale is scheduled for Saturday, August 20th from 10-12 a.m. at Wingham's Riverside Park by the Campground. Dona- tions of baked goods and Volunteer Help for the morning would be greatly appreciated. During the week of August 23rd to 25th we are planning Western Week that in- cludes a film.entitiled "Stampede", along with some slides from Calgary. Seniors are reminded to wear appropriate attire. (Except Spurs). A trip to Blyth Festival Theatre to see "The Cookie War" is scheduled for September lst. A Fundraising Dance is scheduled for Saturday, September 17th at the Brussels Community Centre with music by the entertainers. Tickets will be available from anyone associated with the Day Cen- tre and will go on sale soon. I'll leave you something to think about when it comes to growing, "Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind."
