Council notes resignation
The Lucknow Village Council met for
their regular monthly meeting last week
with Reeve Herb Clark chairing.
The first order of business attended to at
the meeting was the reading of a formal
letter of resignation from Councillor John
MacLeod. Mr. MacLeod recently moved
out of the municipality.
In a follow-up to this resignation, George
Gibson read and signed a declaration of
appointed office and an oath of allegiance
to fill the vancant council chair.
The councillors in attendance at last
week's meeting spent some time discussu-
ing the recent inspection of the village
standpipe. It appears that the structure
will require re -painting in the near future
and council will make a firm decision in
this regard at a forth coming meeting.
Grant application received
Council noted and filed an acknowledge-
ment from the Ministry of Transport of the
grant application to fence and erect light

In other business conducted Tuesday,
Gary Austin, Town Foreman, was re-
quested to obtain prices of cement curbs to
protect the fence beside the Puddle Ducks
Day Care Centre. Lucknow's day care cen-
tre is located in the old Royal Bank
building on Willoughby Street. Mr. Austin
should have the quote available for the
next meeting of council.
Recreation Director Bill Hunter was re-
quested to check on the problem of debris
being scattered around the Community
Centre building.
In the final business handled before ad-
journment, the village accounts were in-
structed to be paid.

Short trip to Florida •
Floyd Stanley of Ripley and his brothers
Larry. Stanley of Kincardine travelled to
('learwater Florida last week for a short

tour for two weeks in late February in the
Lakeland area there. '

regular air stewardess with Air Canada.

Switzerland and plans are that she would
be back there this week.
Fall fair prize lists are out
The new prize lists for the Ripley Huron
fall fair are out. President of the Ripley
lady directors Mrs. Margery I "Marj" I
was one of those out distributing them.
They are brightly coloured, neat in ap-
pearance, pocket size, and readable. You
will notice on the inside of the back cover
they have as usual their all time rival - the
International Plowing Match at nearby
Stratford Sept. 20 to 24. Of course Ripley on
the last Friday and Saturday Sept. 23 and
24 will share their attendance. Both Ripley
and Teeswater know that. But farm folks
know how to get along somehow.
Incidentally a couple of weeks back Bob
Carbert said that he could only recall two
old time church sheds in use. Well Ripley
Ag. Society directors should invite Bob
here on Saturday Sept. 24 to see our shed in
use for the Cattle Show.
