The Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-08-17, Page 5Reader looks for that
elusive tomato recipe
Dear Sir,
Could you please see if you can find a
recipe for ripe tomatoes made in a crook
with some kind' of. acid that seals itself
again after you take some out. It's like a
rubber seal.
We got the recipe from a Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Moosesaw. He was a policeman but
has passed away. They had a daughter but
I can't remember her name.
I am sending a stamped envelope with
my name and address so would you please
reply.
Thank You
Mrs. Dunn
Kitchener
Editor's -note:
I have Mrs. Dunn's stamped envelop
here at the Sentinel office. 11 anyone can
help us out by providing the recipe she is
searching for, please bring it into our of-
fice and we'll mail it off to her.
I've looked high and low but can't find a
tomato recipe that is made "with some
kind of acid"
Dear Sir;
I am a descendent of William E. Andrew
who emigrated from England to Ontario in
the mid -1800's. He farmed in Ashfield
Township, Huron County until his death.
. In the recent past there were quite a large
number of descendents living in the
Lucknow area. If the Andrew -Lane Family
Association is still active, do you know how
• I may contact it's members?
In the July 6, 1950 issue of the Sentinel
there was an extensive article about the

Dear Sir'
I,ucknow! Little village on the Ontario
map. Lucknow, where an editor with an
experiencing mind is accused of bringing
no breath of life into his products.
Lucknow! Little village on the Ontario
map. Lucknow, where a fifteen year old
boy can be banished from the public swim-
ming pool on account of his french name.
For an editor, it is obvious thylt the results
of his., work furnish the mind with quan-
tities of unexpected ideas .
For the deprived fifteen -year old boy.
perhaps he should paint himself black then
`tie for discrimination.

their abilities.

their generosity in donating space to us.
Finally, thank you to the students of the

Hello,
I just wanted to say my father Alvin H.
Beaton was born in Lucknow Oct. 10, 1900.
We visited Lucknow the last week of June
1988, and he was remembering things the
way they used to be, like Anderson Fur-
niture. Store, the Griss Mill when the Buck-
ingham family owned it, the skating rink,
and the old swimming hole.
We bought a paper and read they were
taking donations for the new arena. We
drove by the paper to get the address, and
they didn't have it posted. There was this
lady standing by the window, so we asked
her if she knew the address, she said no. We
explained,to her we wanted to donate some
money to'the arena, so she did the next, best
thing, she took us to Mr. Bill Hunter's home
and we donated the money to him. He was
very pleasant to us and talked a few
minutes.
We left. and this sweet lady showed us
where the old swirming hole was where my
father used to swim. This lady was the
greatest, lots of fun and laughter, her name
is Annie Dexter. Tell Annie we are still
waiting for the receipt so we can fix up some
salmon...
Here is the money we promised from
some of our relatives...Keith Redmond,
Grandson; Donald Belkowski, Grandson;
Pat Belkowski, Granddaughter; Katherine
Belkowski, Great Granddaughter; Connie
Ingram, Granddaughter: Nancy Pitman,
Daughter.
Thank you for being so kind and nice to
us asking so many questions. This is from
the three sisters, Pauline, Alva and Connie.
We would like to buy a copy of your paper
If you print this article for my dad.

Dear Sir.
Having read in your Sentinel received to-
day that the town was interested in im-
proving its . image as a tourist centre, I
thought the enclosed advertising sheet for
Bowmanville might be a help to the com-
mittee in my home -town.
Sorry 1 couldn't be there for the reunion
and best wishes to yourself and to my
relatives and friends.
Yours Sincerely,
Andrew Thompson
