Clan Donald gathers
The 27th Family Reunion of the Clan
Donald was held at the MacDonald
Homestead at Lucknow on July 30. Hosts
were Mr. and Mrs. John MacDonald and
Ian of Sudbury and Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Deleuze, Toronto.
President, Mrs. Mary Jane Wickham
and secretary Kevin Wickham along with
their committee of Christine Wickham,
Theresa Wickham and "Bob Small, all of
Windsor, had an interesting program plan-
ned for all. Large posters welcomed all to
the reunion. There were lots of contests
and games.
Coming farthest this year were Don and
Sheila Lindsay and their daughter, Dianne
Moustatsus and month-old son Nicholas of
Houston, Texas. Mr. amd Mrs. Douglas
Jamieson and Mrs. Bette Jamieson came
from Montreal and others were from
Toronto, Stratford, Kitchener, Port Carl-
ing and other areas.
Interesting items on the program includ-
ed a tape recording of the song 'Glencoe',
relating to the massacre of the Mac-
Donalds in 1692. Ian MacDonald had
researched the history of the MacDonald
home since the crown deed and gave
good report. .
It was discovered that there was one
member of the MacDonald family whose
name (Jean Elizabeth) was not on the
stone in the South Kinloss Cemetery.
Donations quickly covered this oversight.
The only surviving member of the fami-
ly of twelve children of Donald and Mary
Jane MacDonald, Dame Sarah MacDonald
MacDougall of Clan Donald, was knighted
by nephew Doug Jamieson with a gleam-
ing septer and was given a plaque.
Silver dollars couldn't be found this year
so the children received new dollar coins.
The 1988 reunion was video taped by
photographer Carl Deleuze.
The president and secretary were thank-.
ed for all their work and agreed to stay on
and plan the next reunion whichwill be
held on the Civic Holiday weekend in' 1989.
A busload of parishioners and friends
travelled to Toronto on Monday, August 1
to watch an exciting ball game between
the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota
Twins in which the Blue Jays came from
behind to win. This is an annual trip ar-
ranged by Father Ed as a treat for the
altar boys and an opportunity for anyone
else who wishes to enjoy a day out.
The 'grotto in honour of Our Lady of
Fatima is now complete and only awaits
the arrival of the statue which is to be sent
from Italy. Fund raising for the Grotto has
been very successful and grateful thanks
is extended to all those who contributed
financially or otherwise. On Sunday after-
noon Aug. 7th from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. a very
successful cold plate dinner was served in
the Parish Hall which raised more money
for the Grotto Fund.
Many parishioners attended the Steak
and Lobster Fest on Sat., July 30 at the
