Moffats are wed 50 years
A number of friends and relatives
gathered for a reception and dinner at the
Rexdale Presbyterian Church Auditorium
on Sunday, June 26th in honour of Mr. and
Mrs. Farish Moffat on the occasion of their
50th Wedding Anniversary on June 22nd.
They have one son, Gordon, of Toronto and
his wife Margery and three grandchildren
Julie Ann, Kendra and Alexander.
Farish and Kathleen were married at
the Presbyterian Church Manse in
Whitechurch on June 22nd, 1938 by the
Rev. John Polloch and farmed at Langside
until 1962 when they moved to Wingham,
and moved to Rexdale in September 1987.
Congratulatory certificates and
messages were received from Governor
General, Madame Jeanne Sauve, Prime
Minister Brian Mulroney, City of
Etobicoke Mayor, Bruce Sinclair and Con-
trollers Lois Griffin and Dick O'Brien. Mr.
Ed. Phillip, M.P.P. for Etobicoke - Rex -
dale, was present and presented the On-
tario Certificate on behalf of Premier
David Peterson'.
Several floral arrangements were
received including one from the Etobicoke
Mayor and Councillors and the Officers
and Members of Lakeshore Chapter No.
257 Order of the Eastern Star who also
catered for the Dinner.
Guests were present from London, Kit-
chener, Wingham, Lucknow, Holyrood,
Teeswater, Vankleek Hill, Dundas and
Toronto.
Unit 4 enjoys picnic meal
Unit Four of the Lucknow United Church
Women met on Tuesday, June 28 for a pic-
nic at Mrs. Campbell Thompson's cottage
r at Amberley Beach.
Following a delicious pot -luck supper, a
short program was conducted by Mrs.
George McBride, unit leader. She opened
with a poem, "Do You Worry/", by Nor-
man Vincent Peel and followed with the
Unit Prayer.
There was an attendance of 27 and the
roll call was answered with a recipe
exchange.
Mrs. Bob Finlay conducted the
Fellowship of the Laest Coin with a
parayer for Mozambique.
Announcements were given for Reunion
iM
Sunday and help requested for serving
lunch. Also, a reminder to use the resource
centre during the summer months.
Mrs. Ken Cameron gave the treasurer's
report and Mrs. Cliff Crawford for com-
munity fellowship andthe brithday jar.
Mrs. Gordon Cayley reported on the
amnesty and Mrs. Cliff Menary spoke for
the flower committee.
Sunday school teachers are needed and
were requested to come forwardby the
Christian Education Committee. The of-
fering was dedicated by Mrs. Gerald
MacFarlane.
Fun games were then enjoyed, con-
ducted by Mrs. Don Thompson.
Old friends meet
Australian woman here
Susan Fraser of Toowoomba, Queensland,
Australia has been visiting for the past week
with Mrs. John C. MacDonald. They were in
Orillia visiting with Corinne MacDonald and
also in London with Courtney MacDonald.
Susan was also entertained by Gerry
McLeod, Lyla Allen, Jessie Shelton, Helen
Rainey, •Lenoys Cuyler and Margaret
Hedley in Kincardine and by Florence Mac-
Donald in Ripley.
The Kincardine ladies and Mary Mac-
Donald met Susan Fraser during a tour of
Great Britain three years ago. She is a
secondary school teacher and is on a long
service leave for 13 weeks, tourin Europe,
the United States and Canada.
Pool Party
Wilma Van der Velde, swimm-
ing instructor of the Lucknow
pool, gives reassurance to a
young swimmer.
With last week's staggering temperatures, the Lucknow pool was kept busy, with the
four lifeguards?instructors putting in a lot of hours. Approximately 400 children have
registered for lessons and no complaints were heard about the water temperature. The
summer playground is into full swing now, with approximately 20 children taking advan-
