Three years ago, Valerie Tanner of
Walkerton, (daughter of Ross and Elaine
Errington) wrote to the New You Show,
complimenting them on the makeovers
they do and posing a makeup question.
Her letter was answered at that time,
advising that the show had completed air-
ing for the season, but they would attempt
to answer her question the following
season. She was also told if the show was
ever up in this area she would"be contacted
for an interview.
Valerie figured that was the end of it, un-
til early this June she received a phone call
inviting her to come to Hamilton for an
audition.
Valerie figured the odds of her being
chosen to be on the show were slim, as
there was a large number of women, aged
24 to 50 auditioning.
A week and half later she received a
phone call telling her she had been picked
for the make over.
June 21 was a day Valerie will long
remember. From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. she
was pampered by a host of hair and
makeup experts, including Claus Feser,
the show's hair specialist and owner of
makes debut
Haute Coiffure, a beauty shop in Toronto;
an interview with Bettie Bradley, the
show's .makeup expert and editor of You
magazine.
Valerie, who requested an "easy -to -
care -for" hair style, had her hair cut and
highlighted by Feser. Bradley consulted
during the makeup application, but
another woman Marisa, did the actual
work.
Valerie, opted for an evening look with
her makeup in order to try something dif-
ferent from the natural look she usually
wears.
Following the full day of pampering,
Valerie was taped doing her "walk' com-
plete with a fur coat, valued at $15,000.
Valerie's comment, "I didn't care how hot
it was that day, it felt great wearing that
coat."
' Valerie was very impressed with ex-
perts who answered questions about hair
care and makeup and shared tips they give
to Holywood stars. Feeling like a new
woman, her husband took her out to dinner
to top off the day.
Look for Valerie on the New You Show in
September.
