The Sentinel apologizes for adding any further distress to the Courtney family at this time. Floyd Edward Courtney; 26, of RR 1 Dungannon, died instantly when the motor- cycle he was driving was struck by a car at 1:30 a.m. on Friday, July 1.. The Wingham Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police said Courtney was west- bound on Concession 4-5 in East Wawanosh Township near Highway 4 when his motor- cycle was hit by a car pulling out of a driveway. The ear was driven by a 16 -year- old male and the investigation into the inci- dent in continuing. Floyd is the. beloved son of Joe and Teresa Courtney, RR 1 Dungannon, and the dear brother'of Gary of Blyth, Brian of Calgary, Alberta; Eric of Oakville; and Carl, RR 1 Dungannon. Floyd is also survived by one niece, four nephews and several aunts and uncles. He is predeceased by one infant brother, Joseph, in 1958 and a brother, Wayne, in 1984. Visitation was held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, on Sun- day last with family prayers being offered later in the evening. Father Ed Dentinger officiated. Mass of the Christian burial celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kingsbridge, Monday, July 4 at 10:30 a.m. Donations to the Diabetics Association as expressions of., sympathy would be greatly appreciated. Hear report on cancer clinic The Auxiliary to the Wingham and -District Hospital met June 27th with Mrs. Leonard Philips President, in charge. Following the business portion of the meeting the guest speaker Mrs. Ken Wood was introduced. The topic was the work of the Cancer Clinic and Mrs. Wood outlined the ac- tivities and progress of the Cancer Clinic program at the Wingham and District Hospital which was first organized in 1957 and held twice monthly. Dr. Ivan Smith of London was appointed Director of the Clinic which provided follow-up treatment for the patients of the area and thereby relieving congestion in Victoria Hospital Clinic and saving local patients from long distance travels. At that time, Victoria Hospital provided the physicians and record and appointment data ,and the Wingham Hospital supplied space, some supplies and staffed clinics. Thameswood Lodge, London was design- ed to accommodate 50 out-patient Cancer patients while receiving treatment Mon- day through Friday and provides 24 hour care, good meals, fellowship, professional consultations and a home -like environ- ment. A video on Thameswood Lodge was viewed at the conclusion of the meeting. The speaker finished her remarks with assurance stating "Cancer can be beaten - early diagnosis is essential - no smoking - low fat - high fibre diet, avoidance of cured meats and sun exposure.
