Visitors from England and Japan
Margaret Morton of Point Clark and her
daughter Teena has been visiting their un-
cle in Arizona for this past week for a few
holidays.
Jack Maclennan of Stratfbrd visited
recently with his mother and sister Rhetta
and Marion MacLennan.
Barry and Betty Jones have had visitors
from England and Japan staying with
them on the Farm Vacationing Program.
Visiting with Dorothy Finlayson recent-
ly has been her two Sons Ken Finlayson of
Toronto and Boddie Finlayson of Sarnia
and his daughters Laura and Lisa.
The W.M.S. of the Ashfield Presbyterian
Church held their June meeting at the
home of Dorothy Finlayson on Thursday,
June 23rd.

Some of the local people that enjoyed a
bus trip to Sarnia recently were Duncan
and Kay Thorburn of Amberley, June
Wylds, Dorothy Finlayson, Ewan and Mar -
4 jorie MacLean of the Lochalsh area. They
all enjoyed a boat cruise on the St. Clair
River, made an enjoyable tour of a rose
garden and thrilled over the beauty they
saw in the Orchid Greenhouse. The bus
trip was sponsored by the Ripley Hor-
ticultural Society and was very much en-
joyed by the travellers.
The community would like to send con-
gratulations to Clarence and Elleda Irwin
on the safe arrival of their 4th great grand-
daughter Janet Winifred born on June 16,
1988 in the Wingham and District Hospital.
The baby weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and is
the daughter of Glen and Maryann Irwin of
RR 1 Wroxeter.
Visiting on the weekend with Elmer and
Edna Culbert were Elmer's brother and
sister-in-law Herb and Carol Culbert of
Southfield, Michigan.
Mrs. Gordon Robb visited on Wednesday
with her daughter and family Bob and San-
dra Darling in Chesley.

Decorating •
Winners of the home decorating were
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Farrish; second was
Rhoda MacKenzie while third spot was
taken by Mrs. Warren Zinn.
Honourable mention in the contest went
to Mr. and Mrs. Herb Clark and to Mr. and
Mrs. Ron Crich.
Store decorating winners were:
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home,
first; Whetstone .Furniture (arranged by
Delores Cross with donations from area
residents), second; and the Bruce County
Halth Unit, third.
Honorable mentions to Valley Green
Flowers, Your Favorite Things and to the
Lucknow Business Association.
Registered visitors
Over 1,200 people were reported to have
registered for the reunion. People from as
far afield as Indonesia, California,
Florida, Alberta, P.E.I., Manitoba and
every point in between came to town for
the celebrations.
Members of the Kairshea Institute came
out to register on Friday, while the
Lucknow Women's Institute registered
Saturday.
Bike Rally
A total of 19 youths got together for the
Bicycle Poker Rally over the weekend.
When the course was completed,
Johnathan Austin too the $10 first prize
with Adrian Helm second with $5 and
Michael deBoer third for $3.
Special thanks go out to Herb Clark wh'o
was on hand to compile the results and
'declare the winners.
Seniors variety show
The Senior Citizen Variety Show and Tea
was a huge success with about 130 people
in attendance.
The Kinettes show included Connie
Eadie's Hyland Dancers; Heidi Pritchard
and Kelly Stevenson tap dancing; Sunday
Sunshine group; Isabelle Shepard's Scot-
tish Dancers; and Amy Blake and Heather
and Jennifer Robinson on their violins.
To finish off the program, people from
the audience played a few tunes on the
piano. These included Lillian Simpson,
Randolff Morrison, Donalda Moffatt,
Seleste Wilson and Mrs. Needham.
Following the show, the Anglician
Chruch ladies served refreshmentsand
fancy squares.
Bessie Bingo
The West Huron Junior Farmers con-
ducted the Bessie Bingo durin the
Celebrate in '88 Reunion, The winners
were Jim West of RR3 Goderich, Gwen
Corral of Lucknow and Herb Clark,
Lucknow.
A big thanks to, all who supported the
Bessie Bingo.
Mammoth Parade
The streets of Lucknow haven't seen a
crowd such as the one which lined the
pavement Saturday to take in the sunshine
and the glorious parade for quite some
Lime - and it may be some time before
another p trade of this magnitude is staged
here again.
Clowns, kids,wagons, bands, candy, and
waving hands were all there. Again, the
weather was perfect, not too hot, for the
parade.
Tug of War
In the Tug of War event, the West
Wawanosh team took top spot in the ladies
division with the Lucknow Noisy Ladies
placing second.
In the Boys division, it was the Kinloss
boys taking forst while the Lucknow boys
settled for second. •
Ashfield came out on top in the mens tug
with Kinloss taking second spot.
Nail Driving
Bob Gilchrist of Holyrood was the top
mael nail driver of the weekend. Mel Rit-
chie of Lucknow settled for second spot.
