Any news items you may have for next week drop it in to the Sentinel or call 528-2822, Senior's Day Centre By Heather MacKenzie Hi! My name is Heather MacKenzie and I. am the summer program assistant here at the day centre until the end of August. I live one mile north of Amberley. I just completed a year at Lambton College in Sarnia, and will be going back in September for Social Service Worker. I have been here a month and a half and its been very enjoyable. This month is going to be very busy. Cathy Ritesma should be going to the hospital any day now when she'll become mother of her third child! Our books are going to be a mess for the next little while. A free raffle has been held at the day cen- tre to guess the date the baby will be born. On July 5th the Day Centre will be hav- ing guests speakers. Geoff and Ruth Walker, who will be talking about mushrooms. It should be a very interesting topic. The seniors will be making tray favours for the Wingham and District Hospital on July 6th, 12th and 14th for the month of August. On July 7th, the Day Centre will be going to Blyth Festival to see the production Lu- cien. The play takes place in New Brunswick in a pulp and paper factory. Lu- cien has an opinion on everything. It's sort of an Archie Bunker character. On July 28th the Day Centre will be going to see the production Fires In The Night. It's based on the lives of a couple from Clinton, Ontario. A story of one man's dream and one family's adventures. On July 13th, Rev. Henderson will be out guest speaker. He will be talking about his experiences with Bluebirds in• the Lucknow area. On July 13th and 28th foot clinics will be held at the armouries. Please call the Day Centre for an appointment at 357-1440 or 357-1445. The last week of July, the Day Centre is holding a beach party for the seniors. Lots of activities are planned. Also, Pam will be leaving the Day Centre on the 29th of July. She plans to go back to school. So it will be a i'arewell week for Pam. A quote for the month "The journey of a 1000 miles begins with little steps." Prayers for Courtneys The sympathies and prayers of the com- munity are extended to Joe and Teresa Courtney and family on the tragic death of their son and brother, Floyd in a traffic ac- cident on Friday, July lst.. The Funeral Mass was on Monday, July 4th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Floyd served 'most capably as an usher at St. Joseph's and will be greatly missed by all. St. Joseph's Youth Club spent a day at the Science Centre in Toronto on Wednes- day, June 29th. It proved to be not only an enjoyable but an educational day as well. The Youth Club extends their thanks to Father Ed for arranging the trip and ac- companying them as well as to Peter Dykstra for providing the transportation. Father Ed has been very busy arranging trips for the summer. On Wednesday, July 13th, a bus will be leaving Kingsbridge for PARISHISCHOOL by Louise Martin a visit to the shrine at St. Marys, Ontario.
