A very important aspect of succeeding in the job search is the ability to excel in an interview. Always dress appropriately for an inter- view. -Females must wear a skirt or dress, and males must wear either °a suit and tie or a neat alternative such as a sweater and trousers. Be neat and clean and relatively conservative in appearance. The night before a job interview is not the time to dye your hair purple! Arrive early for your interview; shake hands; do not sit until invited to. Maintain eye contact with the person questioning you. Answer openly and honestly and always be yourself. Interviewers can sense insincerity. Be prepared for questions such as "Why should I hire you?" "What are your strengths & weaknesses?" "What did you learn from your last job?" "Tell me about yourself." Before your interview think about such questions, Know yourself and know what you have done, and the skills in- volved. For example "You should hire me because I have very good interpersonal skills. As a member of the student council I interacted with beth my peers and adults, and I have learned to work with many types of people." After the interview thank the inter- viewer for his or her, time. Do not ask about wages but do ,have some intelligent questions prepared such as "What will my responsibilities be?" Call back a few days after the interview to remind the employer who you are and that you are very eager to have the job. If you are interested in having a mock in- terview in order to gain good interview skills you should call the student centre at 396-9153 or drop into the centre at 325 Lambton St. Kincardine. Jim Bakelaar told the board that on May 17, Senator Stanley Haidass of Toronto in- troduced Bill S-16 in the House of Com- mons in Ottawa. At that time members from both sides of the House came out in support of this Bill. The Bill contains a set of provisions giving legal protection to un- born children. It was decided to give financial support to the Way Inn shelter which is located in the same building as Dr. Morgentaler's clinic. On July 1 a Walk for the Unborn will persist" begin with various groups of walkers tak- ing part. This walk will terminate in Ot- tawa on September 17. Mrs. Colleen Schenk was a guest at the meeting. Colleen spoke about the suppor- tive and practical role of the organization Birthright. She has been involved with this group for seveft years and feels it to offer very worthwhile help to pregnant women. Birthright will provide practical aid such as medical and legal assistance as well as clothing, furniture, food and hous- ing to any pregnant woman who needs this help. The board looks forward to a good sum- mer and will meet again in September. The Lucknow and District Sports Complex Fund got a $2,000 boost last week from Carling O'Keefe Breweries.
