Once again, as we conclude our annual Cancer Canvass of Lucknow and surrounding areas, we wish to sincerely thank all who had a great part in making another successful campaign. The generous response of those who were called on by our willing canvassers resulted in a grand total of $5,074.25. Thanks to members of the Kairshea W.I., the Holyrood W.I., Silver Lake W.I., Reid's Corners W.I, and all captains and canvassers from in and around Lucknow for a job well done. Sincerely, Mildred Loree and Anna Kreutzweiser Campaign Organizors Dear Editor, I am enclosing a cheque for $14 to keep my Sentinel coming for another year. As a teacher at Paramount School, I left the Lucknow area in 1926' but still find much of interest in the Sentinel. Having spent 35 years in the Federal Government as a " research biologist and editor of twd publications, I retired in 1966. I have not found retirement boring. I enjoy TO THE EDITOR gardening, still play the violin and sax- aphone occassionally, and being a biologist I knew the Eastern Bluebird was included in the endangered species list of wildlife mainly because of a lack of suitable nesting sites. I organized a New Horizons Project with the Federal Government by enlisting nine co-operators and getting a small grant of $2,000 to purchase material for bird houses. This has resulted in "Bluebird trails" over much of Eastern Ontario and some adjoining areas of Quebec. Last week, the Ottawa Field Naturalists Club, publishers of the Canadian Field Naturalist, held a wine and cheese enter- tainment event and with over 200 people present elected me the "1987 Wildlife Con- servationalist of the Year" - quite an honour. Sincerely, Lieut. C.G. MacNay, B.A., B.Sc. Ottawa, Ont. Thank you for buying We put good taste into everything we make! Kids were of Kingsbridge In last week's Lucknow Sentinel there ran two photos of the winners of a recent public speaking contest. In the text accompanying the photos, it was wrongly stated that the students were those of the Brookside School. The kids were, in fact, proud members of the Kingsbridge School. The Sentinel regrets this error and once again of- fers congratulations to these students for their efforts. Free Gift Wrapping Fashionable Clothing and Wootweart "1ia45talrre Popular "'voieets.
