Presbyterian WMS
On Wednesday evening the Presbyterian
W.M.S. met at the home of Mrs. Don
Robertson.
The president, Mrs. Bert Thompson,
opened the meeting with a thought and
prayer based on the family and Mother's
Day.
The purpose was repeated. The roll call
was a scripture verse about a mother and
daughter.
Mrs. Bruce Bushell read the minutes of
two previous meetings. Business was mak-
ing final plans for Sunday, June 5th when
their church celebrates its 25th
anniversary.
Mrs. William MacPherson had the devo-
tion and based it on housecleaning. We
need to give ourselves a spiritual cleansing
taken from Psalm 19, Verses 12-14 and
others.
The president gave the offertory prayer
and courtesies. The Lord's Prayer closed
the meeting.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Terry
Burt (nee Judy Storey) who were married
the Pentecostal Church here on Saturday.

Mrs. Kurt Nielsen (Janet Bushell) and
the boys Matthew and Daniel of
Bracebridge spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Don Bushell.

bridal shower for Miss Rhonda Stickland
at Goderich were. Mrs. Don Bushell, Mrs.
Don Gillespie, Mrs. Ron Gillespie, Mrs.
Andrew Page and Mrs. Brian Thompson.
Ladies from here and others namely
Nina McDonald, Irene Boyle, Marilyn
Reid, Maxine King and June Hook took in a
day apart at Singing Waters at
Orangeville. -
Mr. and Mrs. Ken MacDonald and fami-
ly returned home after their trip to
Florida.
Mrs. Don Christensen and Janine of
Milton were here for the Burt -Storey wed-
ding on Saturday.

LDHS Spring Tea
The Lucknow and District Horticultural
Society held a successful spring tea on
Wednesday, May 18, in the Lucknow
Legion Hall along with a plant and
homemade baking sale. The hall was at-
tractively decorated with beautiful spring
floral arrangements and many colorful
houseplants. The students from Grades 2
and 3 of the Lucknow Public School had a
display of their gardens in a bottle and 25
students and -2 teachers from the school
were at the Tea.
President Margaret Burkhart welcomed
everyone and Kay Collyer and Jessie
Joynt were in charge of the registration
and the door prizes. Evelyn Henderson
was picking up a few new memberships.
The committee were well organized and
everything went smoothly for a pleasant
afternoon for everyone. Door prizes were
won by the following - Wes. Young, Anna
Mae Hunter, Ann MacDougall, Annie
Shiells, Elizabeth Dickie, Mildred Loree,
Joan Robinson, Bernice Johnston, Jennie
Porteous and Rhoda MacKenzie.
St. Augustine parish
The May meeting of the Catholic
Women's League began with Mass in the
church with 14 ladies and Father Den-
tinger attending.
The meeting was called to order with
president Agnes Delbergue leading in
prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel.
Cathy Leddy gave a Mother's Day
reading on parents ans children before the
minutes of the April meeting were read
and adopted. The treasurer's report was
also given at this time.
During the business portion of the
meting, Agnes thank everyone for help-
ing house -clean Father's house.
The following coming events were also
discussed: Crowning of the Blessed Virgin
Mary - May 29; Knight of Columbus
Breakfast in St. Augustine - June 5.
The meeting was closed with a prayer
for Priests and Consecration to the Blessed
Virgin Mary.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 6
in Kingsbridge before the plant show. The
three local parishes will attend.
