Lucknow Town Hall
There will be two summer swimming sessions starting July 4 and August 1.
PLEASE NOTE
The size of the Yellow and Orange swimming classes is limited. So come early and get
the time of your choice. The Red and White classes are not restricted.

•IN WHICH SWIMMING -SESSION YOU WANT TO BE ENROLLED
(July or August or both)
Registration for adult lessons, bronze, aquafit, swim team etc. will be held at the pool
prior to commencement of program.
DON'T ENROLL SMALL CHILDREN WHO ARE LESS THAN 44" TALL
Fish Derby is on
The organization meeting of the Ripley
Beef Club was on Thursday April 14 at Don
Farrell's. The leaders are Don Farrell,
Cathy Farrell and John Elliott.
The members of the Junior 4-H are - Man-
dy Farrell -president, Troy Snobelen-vice
president, Aaron Dahmer, Crosby Devitt,
Greg Lowry, Darren Funston, Dean
Funston, Matt Farrell, Sarah Haldenby.
They discussed the requirements of the
beef club and also discussed the special pro-
ject that has to be completed by each
member of the club. They also went out to
the barn and judged calves, The 1st meeting
of the club was on Thursday . May 19 at the
Purple Grove Community Centre where a
lady is coming to speak on herd health. Troy
Snobelen is the club reporter.
Wildest Fish Stories
This is the Third C.K.N.X. Fish Kincar-
dine Salmon Derby on right now. Each week
day the Wingham radio station has had the
wildest "Fish Story" where three phone ex-
changes were picked to be eligible for a try.
At this time of writing, Friday morning,
May 20, four were picked - one each from
Seaforth, Harriston, Hanover and Paisley.
They will be entertained next Thursday
(tomorrow) at Sutton Park, Kincardine.

Auction Sale Excitement
On three Saturdays in May now the excite-
ment has centered on Auction Sales. The
first one was on Saturday May 14 in the com-
plex with auctioneer Bob Colquhon working.
On this Saturday May 21 the sale is at 10
Christina Street in Ripley, auctioneers
Grant McDonald of Ripley and Wally
Ballagh of Teeswater are doing the estate
sale for the John Robertson family and
again the next week they are doing the Bob
Love laundromat sale across from the Brian
Pollock Texaco Garage.
Clinton Klompen Feest
Thanks to bank courier Ted Dea of London
we have a copy of the 8th Annual 88
Klompen Feest Program. May 20, 21 and 22
were the 3 big days for this year's event. For
their parade on Saturday they had the
Waterloo Regional Police Band with 80
members at 1:00 pm on May 21. Welcome to
the Town of Clinton. '
Home From Hospital
Ripley folks were glad to see Mrs. Adelene
Martyn home from Kincardine and District
Hospital. She was able to be home from up
the street last Wednesday.
Visiting Here From Port Elgin
Visiting here with her mother Mrs:
Evelyn Johnson was her daughter Mrs.
Marion Ellis of Port Elgin on Thursday
afternoon. Also Mrs. Frances Elliott of
Ripley visited with them.
Heard the Chimney Swifts
Last Friday afternoon we heard the first
clattering sound of the chimney swifts.
Looking up under the dark overcast sky
there were three birds there curling and
banking with open mouths scooping up flies
from the air.
T -ball Registration
T -ball registration and 1st practice June 7
at 4 pm at the Ripley Ball Diamond. Group 1
- ages 4 & 5, Group 2 - ages 6 & 7. Cost-$5per
child.

Bruce W.I.
scholarship
The Bruce County Ontario Women's In-
stitute Scholarship for 1988 has been
awarded to Miss Terri Johnson of RR 4,
Kincardine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert G. Johnson, Kinloss.
Terri has been involved in 4H Clubs for 8
years and has completed 15 projects. She
has received her County and Provincial
Awards. During her 4H work she has par-
ticipated in all activities and completed
one Youth Leadership Course. She has
been helpful with younger members and
has been a willing volunteer.
Terri is presently a student in Grade 13
at Kincardine District Secondary School,
where she is an Honours student, tutors in
many subjects, belongs to soccer and
basketball teams, dance club and was a
Rotary exchange student.
She .is also active in her community,,
helping at community suppers and fund-
raisers, speaking to groups and teaching
Sunday School. She is a Life -guard and a
swimming instructor at the Davidson Cen-
tre for Kincardine District. She also has
worked with the mentally handicapped.
Terri plans to attend University in
September. The Scholarship cheque for
$250.00 and the Certificate were presented
to her on May 17, 1988 at Bruce South
District Annual Meeting at Ripley United
Church by Mrs. Gordon Wall, the Scholar-
ship Committee Representative for Bruce
South.
