Mrs. Mary Lou Glover and Randy of Sar- nia visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Milligan and on Saturday at- tended a graduation ceremony at Streetsville. Mrs. Wallace Milligan, Mrs. Archie Pur - don, Mrs. Walter Elliott and Mrs. Don Ross attended the Maitland Presbyterial meeting at Molesworth on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Falconer and Jackie of Exeter, Mr. and Mrs. John Scheering and Meagan of Brampton, and Kendra Purdon of Kitchener were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon. ` Carl McClenaghan is a patient in Strat- ford Hospital. Whitechurch W.I. The Family and Consumer Affairs meeting of the Whitechurch Women's In- stitute was held in the hall at Whitechurch on May 11. President Mrs. John Currie opened with a reading, the Mary Stewart Collect, Open- ing Ode. The 4H girls showed their blouses they had made and Karen Elliott spoke about their projects and their 41-1 books were on display. Mrs. Tom Day was convener and Mrs. Dave Gibb was hostess for the May meeting. The minutes were read by Agnes Farrier and the roll call Quick meals for unex- pected visitors brought some good ideas. The motto Nothing cooks your goose more than a boiling temper was given by Merle Wilson. The business was discussed, the ladies are taking in a play at Blyth theatre in- stead of a bus trip this year. The speaker was Mrs. Ian Montgomery of Lucknow who spoke on their trip to Russia and Sweden. She brought some snapshots along to show some interesting points in her splendid travelog of their trip. She was thanked and presented with a gift by Mrs. Don Ross. Chalmers Sunday School The Sunday school awards were given out Sunday morning at Chalmers Presbyterian Church Whitechurch for the 1987 attendance. The superintendent Mrs. Don Ross gave the following awards: Corey Rintoul, 3rd yr. Bar; Kyle Elliott, 3rd yr. Bar; Stuart Rintoul (perfect atten- dance), 5th yr. Bar; Shannon Cranston, 4th yr. Bar; Kevin Rintoul, 5th yr. Bar; Ryan Elliott, 5th yr. Bar; Karen Elliott, 14th yr. Bar. Teachers are, Mrs. Kathleen Elliott, Karen Elliott, Helen Rintoul' and Hazel Laidlaw. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Beecroft were Mr. and Mrs. Bren- don Jardine and family, Mrs. Archie Hertel, Karen Beecroft, Greg and Dwyer all of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sin- namon of Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Kirk. Beecroft of Exeter, Glen and Ken Sin- namon of Wingham. Sunday afternoon Mrs. Ronald Beecroft of Wingham hosted a shower at her home for Karen Beecroft which the • ladies attended. Mr. and Mrs. Falconer and Mrs. Wes Tiffin visited with Mr. and Mrs. Hector Purdon of Strathroy on the weekend. Mrs. Agnes Henderson and James of London visited recently with Mrs. Wes Tiffin. Mrs. Ann Oberholtzer of Waterloo visited on Sunday with her mother Mrs. Norma Rintoul. Mrs. Norma Rintoul visited a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell and Heather of Richmond Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purdon visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carey of Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Donnelly and family of Etobicoke were visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Milligan last week. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Allan Falconer, Timmy and Amy of Goderich visited with the Milligan's. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Simpson visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Marc Sakli and family of Windsor. Mildred McClenaghen and John McKin- non joined Mr. and Mrs. Ted McClenaghen of Kitchener on Monday and took the J.M. Schneider bus tour to Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake, the spring gardens and the winery. The employees of the winery, they were told, never get laid off in the slack season. They keep the same staff year round. The Bruce South Women's Institute District Annual was held on Tuesday, May 17 in the United Church in Ripley. The theme was Waste Not, Want Not. Those attending from the District were Merle Wilson, Mrs. Rena Fisher, Mrs. Gordon Wall, Mrs. Russel McGuire, Mrs. Elgin Johnston, Mrs. John A. Currie, Mrs. Agnes Farrier. Mrs. Russel McGuire was put in as District President at the meeting. Chalmers W.M.S. Chalmers W.M.S. held their May meeting at Mrs. Wes Tiffins' home on May 17. Mrs. Hugh Simpson and Mrs. William Pardon were the leaders. The aim and purpose was repeated in unison. Mrs. Simpson gave the call to worship. Mrs. William Purdon read Psalm 113, and gave the meditation on A Women's Rights. Readings were given by Mrs. Don Ross and Mrs. Neilson. A cleaning bee to clean the church is to be Wednesday morning. Discussion was held on what souvenirs the ladies wanted to order for next year's 125th anniversary of the church. Mrs. Hugh Simpson gave the topic on Mothers. Hymns were sung. The meeting closed with lunch and courtesies.
