DESTROY WEEDS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all persons in possession of lands
Municipalities in the'County of Huron as follows:
Townships - Ashfield, Colborne, Goderich, Grey,
Hay, Howick, Hullett, McKillop,
Morris, Stanley, Stephen, Tuckersmith,
TLrnberry, Usborne, East Wawanosh,
West Wawanosh
Towns - Clinton, Exeter, Goderich, Seaforth,
Wingham
Villages - Bayfield, Blyth, Brussels, Hensel!,
Zurich
in accordance with the Weed Control Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 530, Section 4,
14, and 21, that unless noxious weeds growing on their lands are destroyed by
June 6, 1988 and throughout the season, the Municipality may enter upon the
said lands and have the weeds destroyed, charging the costs against the land
in taxes, as set out In the Act. In 1985 Proso Millet and Velvet Leaf were named
as noxious weeds in most municipalities.
The co-operation of all citizens is solicited.

ANNUAL MEETING
Wingham & District Hospital Corporation
Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of the Wingham and District
Hospital Corporation will be held in the Nursing Assistants Training Centre,
Catherine St., Wingham, Ontario on Thursday, june 16th, 1988, at the hour
of eight o'clock p.m., for consideration and confirmation of revokation of
Medical Staff Bylaw 48; for the election of Governors; for the appointment
of Auditors; and for the transaction of such other business as may properly
come before the meeting.
Copies of the proposed Bylaw change, the Annual Report and Hospital Finan-
cial Statements may be obtained at the front desk of the Wingham and District
Hospital prior to three o'clock p.m., Thursday, lune 16th, 1988.
Membership granting voting privileges may be purchased at the front desk
of the hospital for one dollar ($1.00) prior to five o'clock p.m., Wednesday, June
1st, 1988. No membership sold after that time, on that date, will entitle the
purchaser to a vote at this Annual Meeting.

Dr. Zed is coming!
Grade 1 LC P S
Just recently the Grade 1's completed a
fairy tale unit which they all enjoyed. As a
follow up, they built two interesting 1 N 1 DE t,
castles.
Library News
The amazing Dr. Zed, is coming to visit
the library on May 25, Many students are
looking forward to this day and they are
also looking forward to the book fair in
June.
Grade 1 and 2
Grade 1, 2 are studying frogs and have
set up a terrarium as a home for "Francis
the Frog". They were quite excited the day
they got to watch Francis eat his lunch,
which consisted of Mr. Worm. In reading,
they are doing an author study on Mercer
Mayer. His books are fun to read and they
all hope to receive a Mercer Mayer cer-
tificate after they have read 15 of his
books.
Grade 2'3
This week the Grade 2, 3 class has been
using their imaginations and thinking
about what their classroom would do if
they had gone on a trip to Australia. They
have also been very busy writing a special
book called Randy's Dandy Lions.
They have also been taking very good
care of their plants by talking and water-
ing them. This seems to be helping them
grow. The students have also brought in a
bullfrog and a turtle to show the class.
Grade 3/4
The Grade 3/4 class started a new novel,
The Witches in which they learned that
witches are always looking for children to
gobble up.
They are playing a game modelled after
the T.V. show Jeopardy. The categories
are Spelling, Math, Story -Time, Trivia,
Sharks and, Environmental Studies. The
group called "The Dudes" is leading at
this pot.
They also began.Track and Field inP.E.
They finished their projects on sharks and
read them to the Kindergarten class and
they did such a good job on them that they
will enter them in the fall fair.
Grade 4/5
This week the Grade 4/5 class are learn-
ing geometry in math. They have learned
lines of symmetry, angles, lines, triangles,
point, rays, polygons and shapes. Some of
them are having trouble while others seem
to be doing quite well.
Grade 7/8
In Grade 7/8, novel studies are coming to
a close. The Grade 7's finished with a ma-
jor test based on the novel. The Grade 8's
will do the same some time next week.
Both classes are involved in interesting
units of math based upon transformational
or rotation geometry.
In the music festival Dean Tiffin place
1st. Tanya Sutherland and Theresa
Stanley represented our school very well
and made tough competition for the other
contestants.
Grade 5
Mr. Bennett's Grade five class decided
that, McDonald's is their favorite
restaurant. A distant second was Burger
King.
Also, according to a class poll, one of the
best things to do is go to a birthday party.
And the worst?According to the same poll,
the worst thing to do is go to bed early...
In creative writing, they have been do-
ing their work on rocks and pieces of wood.
In math, they are completing three step
word problems.
Grade 6/7
The Grade six/seven class represented
L.C.P.S. very well at the music festival.
Dawn Bushell took second place, Alesha
Moffat took third and both Roxy Bergman
and Shawn Bellmore represented our
school quite nicely. '
In Grade 6 science, the class learned
how tough it is for herring gulls to
reproduce in the Lake Ontario environ-
ment. Also, the Grade 7's did role playing.
In this game the children, played
everything from salesmen to
manufacturers.
Grade 8
The Grade 8's started a new unit on
newspapers. Connie Husk and Manta
MacDougall went to the Music Festival
and Marita came home with a not so sur-
prising first.
In Geography they had a test and started
a new unit on South America. They also
had History, Math, Science and French
tests. In the gym Mr. Dennis set up a
scavenger hunt for them.
Also this week was the last time to pay
for the Ottawa trip. Overall it was an ex-
citing week.
Students of the Lucknow Central Public School fared very well at the International
Rotary Music Festival held in Walkerton last week. Second place winners from
Lucknow included, back row, left to right, Jesse Park, Sean Lougheed, Kristen O'Neil
and Dawn Bushell. In the centre are thrid place finishers Lucas Thacker, Alesha Mof-
fat and Kerrie Skillen. Our first place winner were Marita MacDougall, Shane Pet-
teplace and Dean Tiffin. Congratulations to all the participants.
