Town and Country bowling league The Town and Country Bowling League wrap up banquet was held on Monday last week at the Anglican Chruch Parish Hall with 45 members and 10 guests in attendance. President of the league, Joan Robinson, called the meeting to order and following the grace, all enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the Aglican Chruch ladies. A short business meeting was held following the meal. The president read the rules of the league and a nomination of of- ficers for the coming season was con- ducted by Anna Johnstone. The officers for next year will be Joan Robinson continuing as president; Gerda dbJong as secretary - treasurer and Ian Dougherty as vice. The presentation of awards was the next order of business. This season's champs were the Snowdrops. Jean Phillips captured the ladies' high average while the mens' high average went to Len McDonald. The ladies' high double score was presented to Fern McDonald and the mens' high double to Ian Dougherty. Marie Park took the ladies' high single award while Ron McQuillen captured the mens' high single. The ladies' high double with handicap BEST GIC RATE 1 1/2% 4 & 5 Yrs. INVESTMENTSt 122 Court House Sq.. Goderich 524-2773 1-800-265-5503 went to Kay McIntosh this year while the mens' high double with handicap was taken by Gordon Johnstone. The ladies' high single with handicap went to Evelyn Henderson and it was Harold Campbell taking the mens high single score with handicap. The most improved lady bowler this season was Helen Todd while the most im- proved man this year was Bill Purdon. The team of the Pansies came on strong on the playoff rounds to take the cham- pionship this season. Gerda deJong took the ladies' high dou- ble score in the playoffs. On the mens' side it was Harry Lavis rolling the best double in the playoffs. The ladies high single in the playoffs went to Agnes Farrier while Eldert Gurtsma and Gus Lemoine tied for the mens' high single in the playoffs. Following the presentation of awards, draw prizes were awarded with Anna Johnstone taking home the biggest of the bunch. Following all the presentations, all the bowlers enjoyed a game or two of euchre. It was another successful season of bowl- ing for the Twon and Country League and here's to next season at the alley. The Town and Countyr Bowling League honored their winners of the season last week. Members of the winning team, the Snowdrops, include, back row, left to right, Harry Lavis,,Bill Pardon, Fern MacDonald, Pharis Mathers, and in front, Agnes Far- rier, Mary Lavis, Mary Belle Peddle and Vera Schmidt. (Pat Livingston photo) , It's time for baptism The Wilkins family were at Trinity United Church in Ashfield to attend the baptism of Matthew Lee Wilkins, son of Jack and Sharon Wilkins. There were four children baptized at the Pine River United Church on Sunday, May 8th. The children were James Charles Brown, son of Lynn and Sandra Brown; Lisa Michelle Brown, daughter of Lynn and San- dra Brown, James Steven Wesley Henry, son of Mark and Kimberlee Henry; and Vic- toria Rebecca Mitchell, daughter of Maurice and Betty Ann Mitchell. James and Cecil Webster of Waterloo and Kae Webster visited on Saturday with Nor- ma Young in Goderich and also with Jack and Marion Smith in Clinton. Rhetta and Marion MacLennan had By Kae Webster Mother's Day dinner on Sunday with Margaret Morton at Point Clark. Mrs. Stuart MacLennan, Mrs. Lloyd Col- lins, Mrs. Richard West, Mrs. Dorothy Finlayson and Mrs. Ewan MaeLean attend- ed the Maitland Presbyterial at St. An- drew's Presbyterian Church in Molesworth on Monday. Ewan and Marj MacLean visited with Marj's brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ed Williamson in Wyoming and also with Marj's sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ross Calvert in Sarnia.
