The Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-05-11, Page 11May meetings... Pictures where also shown of a holiday taken by Mrs. Jim Boyle and her sister Mrs. Margaret Schmidt. They enjoyed a four-day hiking trip in Assinaboine Na- tional Park where they had to fly in from Banff. The pictures were very interesting and showed the rugged, beautiful country of the Rockies. Mrs. George McBride, Unit Leader, presided for the business and opened with a fisherman's prayer. The roll call was answered with "something my Mother taught me that I have never forgot". Fellowship of the Least Coin was taken by Mrs. Bob Finlay with prayer offered for the Taiwan Presbyterian Church. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Ken Cameron and citizensh:iJ by Mrs. Stuart Collyer. Mrs. Leonard Ritchie for stewardship, and Mrs. A.J. Wilson for flowers. Mrs. Cliff Crawford gave the report on community friendship and ask Pd for pie donations for the May 25 dire . Birthday money was received and Mrs. Gordon Cayley reported for amnesty. The ..T•ine meeting will be a pot luck sup- per he l Tuesday, June 28 at the Thompson cottage at Amberly Beach. The meeting was closed with the mizpah benediction and a social time followed. Lucknow Afternoon W.M.S. The Afternoon group of the Lucknow W.M.S. met at the Pinecrest Nursing Home for their May meeting. President Rhoda MacKenzie presided and opened the gathering with a call to worship and prayer. Following a hymn sing, with Mrs. Bert Moffat on piano, the Twenty-third Psalm was repeated in unison. . Mrs. Ramsey gave a splendid message with the theme being "The Lord's my Shepard, I Shall Not Want". A number of favorite hymns were sung by all with the residents of Pinecrest join- ing in before Mrs. Jim Aitchison gave her reading. Offerings were received while Mrs. Mildred Loree gave prayer. Following more hymns, the meeting was closed with prayer and all enjoyed lunch and a social time. Mr. Packer gained notoriety last year when he refused to guard Dr. Henry Morgentaler's Toronto abortion clinic as a matter of conscience. He currently is on desk duty waiting for an appeal to be reinstated in his old street job.
