If you do, and are between 12 and 21 years why not join a 4-H club? 4-H gives you the opportunity to grow as a person and to "Learn To Do By Doing". 4-H'ers .take pride in trying their best, making decisions and working as a team. Good friends are made, great memories, and excellent time management. 4-H has lots to offer. Clubs available in- clude livestock, financial management, foods, outdoor survival skills, youth leadership, just to mention a few. Special opportunities include con- ferences, scholarships, and exchanges that take you to exciting places. 4-H is a quality program. The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ontario Farmer invite you to enter the 1988 Centennial Essay Competition. The competition helps you mark the Ministry's centennial year and offers prizes of $500, $250 and $100. There are three categories: open (adult); elemen- tary (Grades 5-8); and secondary (Grades 9-13). Each category will be judged separately. Authors have six topics to choose from: 1. Agriculture: How it shaped our pro- vince; 2. My grandparents' farm; 3. On- tario: Food Land vs. Concrete Jungle; 4. Agriculture in 2008; 5. Ontario Agriculture: Feeding the World; 6. The story of my favorite food. Submissions must not exceed 1,000 words and should be -typewritten, double- spaced and stapled in the upper left-hand corner. Legible handwritten entries will be accepted. All entries must be the original unpublished writing of the entrant.
