Intended for last week:
The Talk of the Town
"Coffee Break", a group of ladies that
have been meeting each Wednesday morn-
ing since last September, had their final
get-together until the fall last week.
Under the leadership of Gladys Thielke
and Hilda Vanderklippe, an average of
nine ladies representing at least six dif-
ferent churches met for Bible study,
fellowship, coffee and goodies. In the fall
the book of Ephesians was studied, then
the next study was called "Be A Winner"
dealing with subjects such as worry,
discouragement, anger,guilt etc.
g
The rejuvenated seniors room in the
Town Hall was an ideal setting for these
studies and was appreciated by all who
participated. Each week ladies of the
Christian Reformed Church provided
babysitting for the young children, thus
living up to its name, "A Break" for young
mothers. These young ladies should be
commended for the time and effort they
put in to these meetings.
Construction continues to flourish
around town and is a very important part
of the community. Work on the arena pro-
gresses, extensive renovations were car-
ried on in the former Knechtel Store, and
two more foundations and an addition
were excavated last week.
Steve and Lynn Mann are building a new
house on Delhi St. and Cliff Kilpatrick's
are planning on building behind Howard
Neable's Garage on Havelock St. Mr. and
Mrs. John de Bruyn are adding an addition
to their home on Ross St.
Excavations were also carried out for a
new house for Donald and Marge McLeod
on Highway 86 East.
The town stores took on a new look last
week with the windows covered over for
the "Top Secret Sale". Prices were such a
mystery you had to go into the store to find
out the amounts on certain items.
Two new girls came to town last week.
Laurie Elizabeth is making her home with
Ray, Anne, and Susan Guay and Kelsie
Jean is being welcomed by Randy and
Laurie Alton: Welcome to the new babies
and congratulations to all the parents.
Further winter vacationers that have
returned include Jack and Mary Fisher of
Pine Island, Florida to their home at Point
Clark; Omar and Dora Brooks of Tamarac
to their apartment on Inglis St., and
Virden and Margaret Mowbray of Mesa
near Phoenix Arizona to their home on
Ross St.
