Mrs. David Haldenby was hostess for the
Anglican Church Women at her home on
Thursday at noon. When all sat down to a
lovely hot dinner, Rev. Merelyn Letson
asked the blessing and everyone did
justice to the goodies.
Mrs. Roy Collins presided and opened
with the poem "Road to Love" and the
scripture lesson, the hymn "When I
Survey the Wondrous Cross" was sung
followed by prayer.
New Life was the word for the roll call.
Mrs. Kay Thacker read the communica-
tions, and Minutes and an invitation to the
Bervie UCW Thankoffering May 10th at 8
p.m. was accepted. Other matters of
business were also discussed. The South
Saugeen Deanery meeting will be at
Lurgan on May 3rd.
Mrs. Agnes Hodgins is the May 12
hostess. Mrs. Midford Wall was program
convener and gave a splendid Meditation,
with the New Life and renewed life of spr-
ingtime, and all of God's faithfulness and
goodness to us daily.
Agnes and Maureen both gave suitable
readings. Rev. Merelyn Letson's talk from
Galatians 6 V 1 was on, you who are endow-
ed with the spirit and prayer.
The May -June daily Bible reading and
meditation book were handed out. May
Boyle thanked the hostess and all who took
part to make such a splendid meeting and
meal. Erma had the closing prayer.
Mrs. Annie (Hodgins) Thompson
formerly of Con. 10 passed away in the
Wingham and District Hospital on Mon-
day, April Ilth. Burial was in the Kit-
chener area.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brooks of Listowel

Congram, formerly of Con. 8.
Mrs. Gerald Rhody and Allan returned
from South Carolina where they visited
with Mr. and Mrs. David Rhody and fami-
ly. David had to leave this week for his
return to Africa.
A hot-air balloon was seen floating
westward to Holyrood and on west 21/2
miles where it landed in a vacant field
across the Huron -Kinloss Boundary. The
men bailed out and soon a van arrived and
all were gone. It was something to see so
near home.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ormond of Millon
spent the weekend here with Pastor and
Mrs. Christensen.
Mr: and Mrs. Tom McDonald visited
Sunday with Mrs. Essie Bloomfield at
Paisley.
Mrs. Bert Thompson and Mrs. Tom
McDonald visited during the vQeek with
Mr. and Mrs Ron Young at Kitchener.
A goodly number from here and others
attended the fa.tuly event on Sunday at the
Churrli of Messiah Parish hall, Kincardine
from 3 , to 7 p.m. The Rev. and Mrs.
T` eke Vipperman of Exeter were in
charge. The young people and young of
heart entertained with Biblical drarna
skits. The leader read several scripture
passages and led in song.
Groups in their playettes"gave everyone
entertainment and things to think about.
The puppets did their show as well. Ques-
tionnaires were passed out to be filled in
and music and scripture was by the leader.
Then at 5:30 p.m. all sat down to a lovely
smorgasbord supper. The hall was filled
and following that, a candlelight evensong
led by Rev. Merelyn Letson and Rev. Jim
Francom, who had to remain seated as he
is still on crutches after his most unfor-
tunate fall several weeks ago.
All lighted candles were placed on the
floor in the centre of the room and scrip-
tures were read by Dale Lougheed and
Mrs. Eric Thacker. Several prayers were
offered and during the offering Rev. and
Mrs. Vippeman favoured with a beautiful
duet. All repeated the Lord's Prayer and
Rev. Letson pronounced the Benediction,
bringing a very lovely worship service to a
close.
