The old sailor
Old sailor Joe once told me of his treasure
far away,
And said he'd bring me something back -
someday.
He was a quiet, peaceful man sometimes
even shy,
But I didn't trust him, I thought it was a
lie.
One day my friend was not there,
I searched to find him everywhere.
I lifted anchor ready to go,
And who cruised in but darn 01' Joe.
He travelled all night and day,
To bring this special gift my way,
This is for you, he quietly said,
I looked at him and nodded my head.
The box was old and rusty,
And smelt so very musty.
01' Joe just smiled with a sigh,
I was so touched I thought I'd cry.
What could be in my box of tin?
But Joe just looked up with a grin.
I opened it slowly and what did I see?
A special gift from Joe to me.
A shiny key lay in my box,
And only I known what it unlocks.
Someday I'll go and bring my treasure
home,
And like any friend Joe, no more will I
roam. by Tara Thacker
The Poison Apple

wicked witch gave it to me. I took it home.

everyone." The children and Mrs. Bell
looked at it. It is red and mean. "I will dig
a hole and bury it."
Spring Song
by Grade 1
(Tune Muffin Man)
Oh do you know that it is Spring
Because the birds are singing.
Oh do you know the birds are singing
Because I can hear them
Oh do you know the grass is green
Because I can see it.
Oh do you see the pretty flowers
That smell so nice
Oh do you feel the drops of rain
That make you all wet.
Oh do you like to play in the mud
On a muddy day.
Oh do you like to play in the garden
When it is spring
Oh do you like to splash in the puddle
On a damp day.
I like to carry my blue umbrella,
On a rainy day.
Oh how I like the April showers
In the springtime.
