HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-04-20, Page 6Page 6--Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, April 20, 1988 Huron Township Council Township of Huron Council decided at its March meeting to have the Regional Assess- ment Commissioner for the Counties of Bruce and Grey attend a meeting to discuss reassessment in Huron Township. Three members of the Point Clark Kinsmen attended to discuss a community centre at the park on Given Road council will give them interim, financing for this project. Council instructed A.W. Clarke of Maitland Eng. Ltd. to implement the report for Municipal drain on Conc. 1, Sideroad 5 as prepared by Spriet Assoc. as ordered by the Ontario Drainage Tribunal. An agreement between Art Baker and the road superintendent was signed for gravel for new proposed road on part lot 51 to pt. lot 60, Conc. A., a wayside pit permit was to be applied for. Council accepted the tender of Jim Hayter for a 1988 1 ton truck and box at his tender price of $20,865. The Road Superintendent will attend Road School in Guelph May 2, 3 and 4. Saugeen Road Spraying is to repair the Hi -float on the Huron -Kincardine Boundary on lot 1 to 15, Conc. 12 at no expense to the township. Tenders for crushed gravel and pit run gravel for 1988 were to be in by 4 pm Apr. 18. Tenders for culverts and fencing for new proposed road were to be in by 4 pm Apr. 18. Releases were signed by the. Reeve and Clerk on the following Lot 5, Plan 3M-115, Lot 4, Plan M-15, Lot 13, 21, 22 and 23, Plan 3M-114, Pt. lot 29, Plan M-28, lot 6, 11 and 12, Plan 3M-97. A zoning bylaw number 12-98 on part lot ,55, Conc. A was passed, zoning from H to R2-6. Lorne Robinson was appointed weed in- spector for 1988. Council signed the collective agreement between the Township of Huron and Interna- tional Union of Operating Engineers, Local 793 for two years. Accounts Paid: Road Department $48,743.57, General Acct. $33,477, School Boards $265,901.14, Tile Debenture $32,414.83, Telephone Debenture $14,212.50, County $76,694. Steve Burns of B.M. Ross & Assoc. attend- ed to discuss the lighthouse parking lot and washrooms at Point Clark. Gwen Harrison, the Lightkeeper's House Museum co-ordinator attended to discuss brochures and invitations for the opening of the museum. This old photograph turned up at the Sentinel office recently with a request to find out, if we can, what street or town this might be. The photo is originally from W.H. Cash in Lucknow, but we don't know for sure if itisa Lucknow scene. If you have any informa- tion as to the locale, could you drop us a line and solve the mystery. Fifteen young Can- adians will win an all - expense paid trip to the Toronto Economic Summit, June 19-21, as officially accredited reporter observers. The Government of Canada wants to en- courage the active par- ticipation of Canadian youth in this major international event which will be hosted by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, and attended by the leaders of the United States of Amer- ica, United Kingdom, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Japan, and the European Economic Community.
