Grade9l-2
The first warm days of this week helped
us to `Think Spring'. We started a spring
vocabulary list and some spring centres in
language arts. In Environmental Studies
we continue to talk about Wheels and make
a Wheel Booklet.
Grade 1
After enjoying a beautiful Eastp r
weekend, and the Easter Bunny's treats,
grade one got back to work. They were all
proud of their Science Fair exhibits, and
all the visitors found our "farm crop"
display interesting. We took home our
"srping walk" book to read and illustrate.
We are getting to be very good readers and
have many leaves on our spring reading
tree. Each person has been `Special Me'
for a week with Jim Morrison last week.
Now each person will be 'Poor bear' for a
day and be in charge of reading a story to
the whole class. Watch for our interesting
stories and poems coming out in the
newspaper during Education Week.
Grade 2-3
Everyone enjoyed a great Easter
weekend. Many of us are sporting scraped
knees from riding new bikes. We have
been busy making the ads for the LCPS
copy of the Sentinel.
Grade 3-4
We returned from our Easter weekend
well stuffed with turkey. Mr. Dennis would
like to congratulate his students for a.job
well done in our Easter production `Peter
Rabbit'. A new in Environmental Studies
on Fishing Communities has been started
by our class. We spent an art class making
fish mobiles to hang from the ceiling. In
gym class we played a game of dodgeball,
in which one person stood in the middle of
a big circle while his classmates tried to
hit him with a nerf ball.
Grade 4-5
After a very enjoyable Easter weekend,
Grade 4 and 5 settled "down to work with
much enthusiasm. We finished our nmovel
Mice at Centre Ice and will being books of
our choice next week. We are very proud of
ourselves for the Science Projects we
entered in the Science Fair and especially
proud of our classroom winners.
Grade 6-7
Mr. Burkhart arranged a place to show
off about 230 projects in our science fair. It
was a good fair which you would know • if
you came to see it last week. Several
students in grade six won ribbons. The
grade six class had a history test last week
on the 'Quest of the Orient'. -
Grade 5
In math we have continued with
measurements including ml, grams, litres
and kg. Our dinosaur and fossil booklets
were due last Friday. We are now looking
at energy and magnetism.

- Grade 7-8
After a pleasant holiday weekend, grade
7 and 8 has come back ready to work. Both
groups seem to have mastered the concept
of integers but r'^t all have fully grasped
that a •senten, es a complete
thought. The lessb .ntinue. Our future
plans include a three day excursion to -the
Outdoor Education Centre near Wiarton
later this month.
Grade 8
We have been studying Greek
Mythology, with Mrs. Pennington, a
substitute teacher because Mrs. Gibson
went to the O.E.C. The boys' and girls'
basketball teams had a tournament on Fri-
day. A lot of the boys from our class were
on the Lucknow Pee Wee hockey team that
won the All -Ontario Championship over
Wasaga Beach.

Members of the Lucknow Central Public School's Newspaper Club were busy this
week trying to meet their deadline. The group is shown working on the special edition
to be included in next week's Sentinel as part of Education Week across the country.
Principal Bill Pike is acting as Editor of the publication and says he feels the students
have gained a better understanding of the newspaper industry through the project. Be
sure to watch for the fruits of their efforts in next week's paper. (Rob Bundy photo)
