The Port Albert `Successful Profiteers'
have been busy completing their spring
4-H projects on personal finance.
The club had the oportunity on March 14
to tour the Bank of Montreal in Lucknow.
Brenda Mason and Donna Alton took time
from their busy schedules to explain to the
group how the bank works. Everything
from safety deposit boxes to loan applica-
tions were discussed.
On March 24 the club looked at how to
complete cash flow statements. They also
were made aware of planning financial
futures for themselves. The next meeting
covered exchange rates, financial institu-
tions, banking services and bank accounts.
Just for fun the group attempted to
dgscribe the pictures on the backs of Cana-
dian bills from one to .a hundred.
Come the March 28 meeting, the group
covered the topics of writing a cheque, in-
terest, investing money and getting credit.
Upcoming dates were also discussed.
Books are to be handed in by April 16. The
achievement program will be held May 3
at 8 p.m. at the Clinton Town Hall.
The Port Albert Successful Profiteers
Profiteers
would like to take this opportunity to thank
the Lucknow Bank of Montreal for their
tour and to thank their leaders Jean Black
and Donna Hayden fct their excellent job.
Cancer Society
The Lucknow Cancer Society met at the
home of president Bill Henderson on Mon -
,day evening of last week.
As April is Cancer Month across the
country, Anna Krutz and Mildred Loree
have this years' campaign well underway.
This is the Cancer Society's 50th anniver-
sary of progress.
A workshop was planned for April 13 in
Palmerston for the local volunteers.
The Lucknow Branch of the Society
reports that they would welcome any new
members. The group meets twice annually
to go over correspondence.
If you would like to become involved,
call Bill Henderson at 528-3403 or Jane
Treleaven at 528-2943.
Work on the Lucknow Arena got underway bright and early Monday morning. The
$570,000 face lift is expected to reach completion by late August. Arena Board Chair-
man Cecil Cranston stopped by at noon to check on progress and just couldn't help len-
ding a hand. Here he gets into the swing of things by taking a sledge hammer to one of
the old shower stalls. (Rob Bundy photo).
