Science fair and Easter planned this week
By Wayne Collan
Jason Humphery
Kindergarten
Spring is here! We have made a big book
about what we like about Spring.
We are glad to see Justin Collan back at
school after breaking his leg at our skating
party.
Easter will soon be here and we are lear-
ning many Easter songs, games and
crafts. We have become super counters,
too. Our 200's club is almost filled up and
our 25 and 50 clubs are now empty.
Grade One
What a busy we( ze has had
planting geranium s or the Hor-
ticultural Society; mak.,,g a class farm
book, looking after their crops, reading,
and making stories, and practicing for
their play next Wednesday. They are
working on two plays with Mrs. Maclntyre
- "Stop that Pancake", and "The Washing
Dish".
The Science fair is coming up next week,
too - boy, what busy people we are!
Grade One/Two
This week, Mrs. Burkhart, president of
Lucknow Horticultural Society, visited our
classroom. She showed us a geranium,
plant and then showed us how to start a
new geranium by taking a slip off of a
LCPS
INSIDER
geranium plant. Each student "adopted" a
geranium slip to look after until they are
ready to be planted in Lucknow.
We also learned about farm safety from
•Mrs. Johnston. She showed us an in-
teresting film and told us how to be safe on
the farm.
Grade Two/Three
Everyone enjoyed the March Break. We
have had a busy week making some big
Easter Bunnies and some pretty white
lilies.
The Horticultural Ladies came to help us
each plant a geranium on Thursday. Some
students chose water and some chose
earth to plant their flowers in. We hope we
have good luck and can help beautify
Lucknow this summer.
On Friday, Gail Johnston from Ripley
Central visited our class, presenting a
Farm safety program. We must
remember safety at all times.
Grade Four/Five
In the March break there was a skate-a-
thon. Out of our class, Mitch Harris came
in tl 1 and Curt .Humphrey came in

We are making Easter stories for the
Kindergartens. We are going to read the
books to them on Monday.
Grade Five
This week in grade five we have learned
cubic centimeters in math. We have also
started to read a novel called Island of the
Blue Dolphins.
Jackie Murray is our superstar of the
week.
Gra ' Six/Seven
The Industria. Arts group is changing
activities in the copper foil pictures, the
metal work and the wood work. The Fami-
ly Studies group had a test on the food
groups since this is Nutrition Month.
Some of the students joined the
Newspaper club. They went around
Lucknow getting ads for our very own sec-
tion in the newspaper.
The final details went on the science pro-
ject this week. The students gave a big
thank you to Mrs. Johnston for making

them more aware about playing and work-

Grade.Seven/Eight
A number of the grade 6, 7 and 8's had
the opportunity recently to view an Olym-
pic caliber volleyball competition at
Wilfred Laurier University. Three of the
top five women's teams in the world, Cuba,
Japan and U.S.A., plus the Canadian
Olympic hopefuls were involved. Our
students learned an excellent lesson from
the Japanese team; that is, you never give
up, even when all seems hopeless. They
didn't and they won.
Our class has wrote a play titled
"Suzzette's Easter Bonnet" in preparation
for our assembly next week. Look out for
E.B.!
Grade Eight
This week the boys pee wee hockey team
won a game against Thamesford, 3 to 1.
One of our grade 8 students Marita Mac-
Dougall placed third in public speaking.
Tanya Sutherland got first (Gr. 7).
Everybody is geting ready for science fair.
Our spices arrived this wek so we are busy
distributing them.
