Putting numbers on homes Ripley and District Lions Club President Grant McDonald reports that the members will be starting to place the numbers on the homes in the village of Ripley on the holi- day, April 4th, 1988. Won trip to Las Vegas Also Grant reported a good turnout to the annual Las Vegas night Sat. Mar. 26th. Thank you for attending. Congratulations to Howard Harrison on being the lucky winner of the trip for two to Las Vegas for three nights accommodations through Paradise Travel. A special "thank you" to Committee Chairman Lion Jim MacTavish and all, members and non members who assisted in helping to make the evening a success. Phoned Ripley number Every noon hour, 12:15, C.K.N.X. Wingham radio station has the Win -a - Dinner feature familiar to most people. Well - believe it or not - the C.K.N.X. noon operator rang the number 395-2275. I had listened for years back and never before had such a thing happened. The 395 is the Ripley exchange. In the phone book it is Gordon Tom, RR4, Kincardine 395-2275, a Ripley call as it should lie. Tom answers with the usual greeting "Hello", the operator ex- plains and Tom in surprise says "Oh God", but still does not "win the prize". Living at RR 4, which is the 6th concession in Huron township maybe somebody thought in the. phone book it should be Kincardine. Honored for dairy operation Peter and Shirley Walden who operate By Ab Wylds their dairy farm just west of Reids Corners received a fifth placing on their dairy opera- tion in Bruce County. Beef supper next week Just a reminder that the Ripley Agricultural Society beef supper is next week Thursday April 7 in the Huron township hall. Tickets at the door. Mia Dalton of the parish, who is current- ly working with the poor in Haiti, recently sent greetings to the community. She described her heartbreaking work with children dying of malnutrition whose swollen bodies begin to burst and they ex- perience excrutiating pain before they finally die. She also states they are in need of material for making diapers and good lightweight infant and toddler clothing. More than anything else she would like to find families willing to open their hearts and homes for adoption of even a few of the countless, homeless children. Ayone in- terested in helping in any way is asked to please contact either Father Ed Dentinger at 529-7308 or Mrs. Clarice Dalton at 529-7530.
