JEAN PEARL FINLAYSON
Mrs. Jean Pearl. Finlayson (nee
MacGregor), of Goderich, died at St.
Joseph's Hospital in London on Thursday,
March 3, 1988, at the age of 74.
She was a member of the Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital Auxiliary,
Goderich Garden Club, Women's Mis-
sionary Society and the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church.,
Born in Detroit Michigan on October, 23,
1913, she work as an elementary- school
teacher. She married William Clark
Finlayson, of Lu know, at Ashfield
Presbyterian Church on September 23,
1939. She is predeceaced by her husband,
her mother, Agnes Mae Drennan, her
father, Colin Kenneth MacGregor and her
brother Robert MacGregor, all of Ashfield
Township.
Surviving are her sister Anna Leadbet-
ter of Mississauga, her daughter, Janet
Bargh of London and her grandchildren,
Mary and Gordon.
Funeral and committal services were
held at McCallum and Palla Funeral
Home on Sunday, March 6 with Rev. David
Nicholson of Knox Presbyterian Church of-
ficiating. Interment will be at Kintail
Cemetary in the Spring.
Arthur Blair Smeltzer
,Arthur Blair Smeltzer of Huron
Township, beloved husband of the late
Elva Hooey, passed away in Kincardine
General Hospital on Monday, February 29,
1988, in his 79th year.
Mr. Smeltzer lived all his life in Huron
Township. He was born on Concession A,
attended S.S. No. 1 School and was a life
long member of St. Luke's Anglican
Church at Lurgan and Amberley L.O.L.'
In 1933 he took up residence on Conces-
sion 1, on the original Peter Smeltzer
farm. Although he did not take an active
part in public affairs, in his quiet way, he
gave generous support to every cause
which he believed was for the good of the
community in which he lived.
His grandson Dan Smeltzer continues to
farm there now, and thus the farm passes
on in the family, as it has since it was settl-
ed when all the land was forest.
Mr. Smeltzer was the dear father of
Elmer and wife Marianne of Huron
Township, Mary and husband Jim Mills of
Weston, Iva Mazur of Toronto and Arala
and husband John Dahmer of Kincardine
Township. .
He will be sadly missed by 12

grandchildren.
Mr. Smeltzer was predeceased by one
brother Alton and a sister Frances
Godfrey.
The funeral and cominital service was
conducted at the MacKenzie `and Mc-
Creath Funeral Home in Ripley on March
2, with Rev. M. Letson officiating. Inter-
ment in the spring at Lurgan Anglican
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donald Courtney,
Robert Courtney, Leonard Elmes, Chester
Emmerton, Grant Collins and Leroy
Godfrey.
Flower bearers were grandchildren Dan
Smeltzer, Jean Ann Smeltzer, Elizabeth
Smeltzer, Blair Mills, Heather Mills, Mat-
thew Dahmer, Mark Dahmer and Stacey
Dahmer.
Sarah Wilson Blue
Sarah Blue, a retired nurse, passed
away at her residence in Detroit, Michigan
on March 7, 1988. She was 88 years old.
She was born at Lochalsh in Ashfield
Township of March 17, 1899 to John K.
MacDonald and Margaret MacKenzie.
Mrs. Blue was raised in Lochalsh and at-
tended Lochalsh school. She trained as
registered nurse in the United States and
nursed for many years.
Mrs. Blue is survived by two daughters,
Marjorie, Mrs. Jim Meldram and Anna
Mae Childress, both of Detroit, Michigan.
She is also survived by a sister, Jessie
Johnston of Lucknow, a granddaughter,
Lisa Parets, two foster grandsons, Ronald
and Donald Bann.
She was predeceasedby her husband
George J. Blue, her parents, two sisters
and one brother. - '
The funeral service was conducted from.
the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home on March 10, by Rev. A. Ramsay of
the Lucknow Presbyterian Church.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Loree sang a duet.
Organist was Donalda Moffat and Dave
MacDonald, piper.
Spring burial in Lochalsh Cemetery.
Relatives attended from Detroit, Dallas
Texas, Chicago, California, Sarnia,
Markdale, Strathroy, Dundas, Windsor
and Toronto.
Hannah Pearl Congram
Pearl Congram of RR 1, Dungannon,
passed away in Wingham and District
Hospital, on March 1, 1988. She was 90
years old.
Mrs. Congram, born on November 5.
1897, in West Wawanosh Township was
daughter of the late William Ivers of
Dungannon and Mary Ann McRoberts of
West Wawanosh.
Mrs. Congram's husband, Gordon,
whom she married on November 27, 1918
predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughter Gloria
and husband Nels Pearson, of RR 1,
Dungannon; her son-in-law Lorne Hasty
and wife Mary of Goderich; grand-
children, Irene Verheye and her husband
Glen; Brock Hasty; Scott and his wife
Jeanett Pearson; Fay Eggleston; Sharon
and husband Len Heggs; Wayne and wife
Heather Pearson; great grandchildren,
Jason, Jodi and Jacqui Pearson; Ken Eg-
gleston; Brian, Mark and Susan Heggs,
Craig Pearson and Paul Verheye.
Mrs. Congram was predeceased by her
parents, her husband Gordon, her eldest
daughter Audrey Hasty, one infant grand-
son, and two infant great grandsons.
The funeral service was held on March 3.

KEMP-Gord and Brenda (nee Henderson)
thank God for the safe arrival of their first
son, Devin Glen. Devin was born March 8,
1988 in Victoria Hospital, London and
weighed in at 10 lbs, 31/2 ozs. Proud first
time grandparents are Ross and Irma
Henderson, RR3 Lucknow, and Gord and
Bernice Kemp, RR2 Goderich. Proud
great-grandmothers are Martha Liv-
ingston, Brampton, and Mayme Hender-
son, Lucknow.
MORRISON - Arnold and Sharon, of
Wingham, announce with pleasure the
birth of Ashley Lynn, on.March 2, 1988, in
Wingham & District Hospital. Ashley
weighed in at 8 lbs. 1 oz.
