Day of Prayer in Lucknow
The Lucknow World Day of Prayer was
held in the Lucknow United Church last
Friday. The service which was observed,
with its theme of Open Doors, was written
by the women of Brazil and voiced many
economic and spiritual problems that exist
in the world today.
Members from Lucknow's United, St.
Peter's Anglican, South Kinloss
Presbyterian, Lucknow Presbyterian and
the Lucknow Reformed churches led in
readings and prayers during the special
service.
Lorraine Brophy and Betty O'Donnell
performed a drama about the story of
Ruth and Naomi. Marion McFarlane sang
a lovely solo during the offertory while
Tony Stickings handled expertly the duties
at the organ.
A time..of fellowship followed the service
and was most enjoyed by all in attendance.
South Kinloss W.M.S.
The latest meeting of the South Kinloss
W.M.S. was hosted and directed by Mrs.
Bruce Hamilton on March 1. Other direc-
tors at the gathering were Mrs. Eva Burt
and Mrs. Bruce Colwell.
Mrs. Leonard Clarke welcomed all with
a reading from the "Glad Tidings" on
prayer. The W.M.S. Purpose was read in
unison by all present.
Mrs. Colwell lead the Bible Study on the
importance of prayer in our lives. Mrs.
Hamilton gave a reading entitled I
Planted a Garden'. The roll call was
answered by 14 members with "What new
or unusual plant will God nurture in your
garden?"
Taking part in the prayer circle were
Mrs. Vera.Schmidt, Mrs. Janine Hamilton
and Mrs. Harry Lavis. Mrs. Schmidt also
lead in some delightful hymns throughout
the afternoon meeting.
Various business matters were dealt
with including the World Day of Prayer
that was held last Friday. Be sure to circle
April 5 on your calendar. At 8 p.m. on that
day the Thank Offering meeting will in-
clude a talk by Mrs. Ruth Thompson on her
trip to Russia. The meeting will be held at
the home of Jesse Johnston.
More planning towards the May 4
centennial celebrations was also
undertaken.

his adventures in Australia at the World
Scout Jamboree at the June meeting of the
Kinloss W.M.S.
Mrs. Bruce Hamilton lead the Mission
Study with personal glimpses of Russian
people. She gave us an indepth look at the
church and the various services held in
• that country. If one was outside our doors
that day, they would have heard our
members raising their voices to sing Rus-
sian Orthodox hymns.
Mrs. Evan Keith gave the offeratory
prayer and Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon lead
all in the closing prayer.
A delicious lunch followed served by the
hostess and directors.
