Students put their knows to the grindstone
"The Talk of the Town"
Dryden Manor was able to hold their
Open House Sunday, March 6th, after hav-
ing to postpone it twice on account of
weather conditions. It was just over a year
ago that Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor pur-
chased the former Pinecrest Manor on
Gough St. 'from George Newbold and
began renovations to make it into a retire-
ment home for seniors.
They have accommodation for fifteen
residents and in just over the year, they
already have twelve and one more plann-
ing to move in soon. Helping the Taylors at
present are Marie Scott and Marge
McMurray with more staff to be added.
The people living there are well looked
after, receive good meals, and don't have
the worry of taking care of their own home
anymore.
The Open House Sunday was quite suc-
cessful with a goodly number of visitors.
The Taylors have certainly met a need in
the community, and we wish them con-
tinued success in this venture.

Fran McQuail, local Librarian says that
the Tuesday night film series, sponsored
by, the Library was a worthwhile project.
They had hoped the . attendance would
build as the series progressed, which
didn't happen, although it remained con§-
tant. Weather was a deterring factor on a
couple of nights, but all in all she felt it
would be worth repeating another year.
