PeeWee B
The first round of the Pee Wee B playoffs
has certainly been exciting with Lucknow
and Wingham being very evenly matched.
The first game on Saturday, February 6.
ended in a 1 - 1 tie after a 10 minute over-
time period.
The second game on Thursday,
February 11 also went into overtime, with
Lucknow scoring the winning goal, to end
the game 4 - 3. Keith Todd was excellent in
net, making many great saves, especially
on the rebounds.
Wingham opened the scoring in the first
period, followed with two by Lucknow and
Wingham tying the score. Lucknow goals
were by Paul Kikkert unassisted and Colin
Humphrey, assisted by Lyndon Johnston.
Lucknow broke the tie in the second period
on another goal by Paul Kikkert, assisted
by Mark Kikkert and Scott Rintoul.
Wingham came back to tie the game.
The third period was very exciting with
lots of action but no goals. In the overtime
period, Lucknow scored the 'only goal just
45 seconds into the period. Wingham work-
ed very hard but were unable to break
through Lucknow's defense and Keith
Todd's goal tending. Great work team!
" The third game in the series was held
last Sunday in Wingham and the Lucknow
boys came up short in the contest with the
series tied.
Only the steady goal tending of Keith
Todd kept Lucknow in the game. Midway
through the third period, our boys ap-
peared to ease off and allowed Wingham to
fire in two goals to win the game 4 - 2.
The first period ended scoreless with
both net minders making some close
saves. Wingham's Mike Riffin opened the
scoring in the second with assists to Pat-
terson and Kregar.
Scott Rintoul answered back . for
Lucknow to tie the game assisted by Den-
nis Johnston and Jennifer Wyndham.
Wingham took the lead early in the third
on a shot off the stick of Jason Daw. Cle-
ment Wai took the helper.
Less than two minutes later; Scott Rin-
toul scored again beating goalie Rob
Johnston to tie the game at two.
Ivan Skinn put Wingham ahead by one
and Duane Patterson added the insurance
goal with 1:29 left to play in the game.
A totla of 24 penalty minutes were hand-
ed out in the contest.
With the series tied, it all comes down to
the final game scheduled for this Thurs-
day, February 18 in Lucknow. Game time
is 6:30.
Chances of advancing.
look good for Novices
Lucknow Novice
Harriston's Novice hockey team arrived
in Lucknow last week for the first game of
the. best two -out -of -three playoff series
with the Lucknow Novices.
The powerful Lucknow team dominated
the game from start to finish and came.
away with a.9 - 1 decision.
Lucknow monopolized the scoring in the
first period. Markers came from Michael
Puddy from Lee Drennan; Stuart Rintoul;
Brent Cameron from Jay Humphrey; and
Ian Paolin from Michael Puddy and
Trevor Moffat.
In the second period, Lucknow continued
their dominance by throwing four more
pucks past the Harriston netminder. The
goals came from Stuart Rintoul who com-
pleted a hat -trick with two goals in the se-
cond; Puddy added another with help from
Paolin and Moffat; and Jeff Porter got his
own with Rintoul adding an assist to his
point total.
Harriston's only goal in the game came
from Kelley Thackeray, unassisted.
The third period of play saw plenty of
hard work for the Harriston goalie, Scott
Richardson. He came up with some ex-
cellent saves and held Lucknow to a single
goal. That came from Puddy with assists
to Moffat and-Paolin. That gola completed
the hat -trick for Michael.
Graeme Hunter and Ctut Humphrey
shared the netminding duties and were
called on to make some key saves in the
winning effort.
The series continues this week . with
Lucknow's chances of advancing looking
very good at this point.
Super Mushballers
We thought you might like one more look at the Reunion Committee and their uni-
que uniforms that showed up for the Mushball Tournament. By the way, that says
"Don't stay behind". One thing about the weather on the weekend...it kept everybody
moving just to keep warm. Our thanks to Jean Montgomery, co -coach of the team, for
the photo.
