Congratulations to Mrs. William E. Haldenby formerly of our Kinlough Store and now of Pinecrest Manor Lucknow who celebrated her 90th Birthday on Feb. 13th. and Mrs. Dennis Brace and :averse visited with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald tthody. Dennis returned to Oshawa, but Marilyn and Traverse remained for a longer visit. Mrs. Don Bushell visited on Tuesday afternoon with Edna and May Boyle. T Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van dt...appe, April and Jeffrey of Kincardine visited with her parents Mr, and Mrs. Jack Barr: The Holyrood Women's Institute card party was held at the hall on Monday even- ing. 6 tables were in play with prize win- ners Mrs. Jack Barr high lady and Jack Scott high gent. Lucky prizes went to Sara Haldenby and Don McCash. Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald visited on Wednesday with Mrs. Frank Maulden and on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Donald and family. Old time superstitions Whitechurch W.I. The Public Relations meeting of the Whitechurch Women's Institute was held on Feb. 10 at 2 pmat the home of Miss Merle Wilson. President Mrs. John Currie opened the meeting with a poem. The opening ode and Mary Stewart collect followed the opening. The convenor of the Public Relations, Mrs. Ian Ross gave the motto "Living a life is better than making a living". She said some of us are guilty of reaching for more in life than we put in to it, that all we need in life is a living and that depends on each one of us how we do it. Roll call was name an old time weather superstition and brought a variety of comments. The speaker, Mrs. Annalisa Fitzsim- mons, was introduced by Mrs. Ross. She gave a very interesting talk on the dif- ferent places to visit, and some pointers when booking your holiday plans. Ques- tions from the ladies to Mrs. Fitzsimmons proved very helpful and interesting to everyone. Mrs. Norma Rintoul thanked the speaker and presented her with an envelope. The minutes were read and business was dealt with. The ladies had a competition for Valen- tine cookies. Mrs. Russel McQuire won first prize, Mrs. Helen Currie won second for their cookies. A valentine contest was given by Mrs. Ross with Mrs. Currie as the winner. Mrs. Fred Tiffin, Mrs. Jean Tiffin and Mrs. Agnes Farrier served and the valen- tine cookies were enjoyed by all. Local News Mildred McClenaghan visited a few days last week with Mrs. Joan Hibbert of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Joel Hawley (Carol Far - WHITE CHURCH 8y Jean Ross rier), Kendra and Elissa of Welboro Penn- sylvania visited on Tuesday with Mrs. 'Agnes Farrier. Mrs. Farrier left on Friday to spend some time in Florida. Mr. Victor Emerson of Bray Lodge in Wingham was the winner of the Institute quilt that the Whitechurch Women's In- stitute made and sold tickets on. -Mr. Paul Laidlaw of Dorchester visited on the weekend and with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw. DUNGANNON IBy Marie Park Congratulations are in order at this time to Lil Rivett of Clinton on the occassion of her 91st birthday on February 9. For many years, Lil and her husband George lived here and raised their family. Sons Jim and Arnold still reside in Dungannon. Despite the poor weather, the Thursday evening euchre party was held. The High Man for the event was Arnold Stothers while Eldon Culbert took the honours of Low Man. The High Lady was Bernice Henry and the Low Lady Jean Elliott. There were 17 tables of euchre played by the Dungannon seniors last week. Ted Bowers was High Man; Low Man was Elmer Tromrner; High Lady turned out to be Grace Finnigan while Aileen Trommer captured the Low Lady title for the week.
