Old time superstitions
Whitechurch W.I.
The Public Relations meeting of the
Whitechurch Women's Institute was held
on Feb. 10 at 2 pmat the home of Miss
Merle Wilson.
President Mrs. John Currie opened the
meeting with a poem. The opening ode and
Mary Stewart collect followed the opening.
The convenor of the Public Relations,
Mrs. Ian Ross gave the motto "Living a
life is better than making a living". She
said some of us are guilty of reaching for
more in life than we put in to it, that all we
need in life is a living and that depends on
each one of us how we do it.
Roll call was name an old time weather
superstition and brought a variety of
comments.
The speaker, Mrs. Annalisa Fitzsim-
mons, was introduced by Mrs. Ross. She
gave a very interesting talk on the dif-
ferent places to visit, and some pointers
when booking your holiday plans. Ques-
tions from the ladies to Mrs. Fitzsimmons
proved very helpful and interesting to
everyone.
Mrs. Norma Rintoul thanked the
speaker and presented her with an
envelope. The minutes were read and
business was dealt with.
The ladies had a competition for Valen-
tine cookies. Mrs. Russel McQuire won
first prize, Mrs. Helen Currie won second
for their cookies.
A valentine contest was given by Mrs.
Ross with Mrs. Currie as the winner.
Mrs. Fred Tiffin, Mrs. Jean Tiffin and
Mrs. Agnes Farrier served and the valen-
tine cookies were enjoyed by all.
