Also being prepared are resolutions con- cerning the sale of war toys and showing war cartoons on television, and the fact that the W.I. is opposed to the closing of rural post offices and using good agricultural land for waste disposal sites. Mrs. Helen Todd gave a reading on New Year's resolutions for consumers. Mrs. Ross Errington read a poem "Ten Little Members" which told the story of how the members were reduced to one and how that one worked hard to increase the membership to 1,000. Mrs. John Strutton read an article "Af- fair of the Heart" from the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mrs. Helen Todd read an essay on romance. A round of applause was given Mrs. Err- ington for decorating the hall in honour of St. Valentine. The meeting was closed with the singing of O'Canada. Recreation Director Bill Hunter happily accepts a cheque in the amount of $250 from Port Albert Bulldogs team representatives Ray Brown (left) and Ron Hodges. Mr. Hunter says the village is grateful for such donations' as they are the main source of revenue for the promotion of the Lucknow and District Minor Baseball Association. This is the third year in a row the Bulldogs have made a donation to minor ball. The money is raised through annual tournaments. (Pat Livingston photo) Pro -Life telethon, Feel. the Heartbeat The monthly meeting of the Voice for Life group met on the first of February with ten board members in attendance. At the meeting, plans were made for the upcoming annual dinner meeting to be held Wednesday, April 27 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Wingham. The scheduled guest speaker for the meeting is David Packer, the former policeman who refused to guard ,the Morgentaler abor- tuary because of his conscientious objec- tion to the killing of unborn babies. The National Pro -Life telethon, "Feel the Heartbeat", was also discussed. Pro- ceedings were reported to be on target for the viewing of this program on television across Canada during the last week of March or the first week of April. Voice for Life will promote this program locally by extensive advertising including television, radio, newspaper, church bulletin inserts, posters, etc. Promotional material, which has already been ordered, is expected to ar- rive shortly. The group has already pur- chased a four -minute video preview of the 1 HEL telethon to be used for promotion among the clergy. Considerable discussion revolved around the recent Supreme Court ruling which has struck down the law limiting abortions in Canada. This action was described as a "black day" for the unborn and for the country. Board members expressed their shock and the shock of many who have contacted the organization to express their concerns. Members have been encouraged to write to members of the Federal government to express their disapproval of the decision. , Jim Bakelaar will sheet with Rev. Van Eek, head of the Council for Christian Reformed Churches in Canada, to promote the consilidation of the pro-life movement within the church with other groups such as Alliance for Life of Canada and Cam- paign Life Coalition.
