St. Helen's W.I.
The February meeting of the St. Helen's
Women's Institute was held on Thursday
at the St. Helen's Hall. A delicious dessert
of cake and ice cream was prepared by
Mrs. Helen Todd and Mrs. Leroy Rintoul.
The roll call, answered with a resolution
for saving energy around, the home,
brought such responses as insulation,
careful use of appliances and strip -seals on
doors and windows.
Correspondance included information on
the scholarships offered by the Women's
Institutes for 4-H members taking college
courses. The next 4-H project, Outdoor
Living, which will include a leaders
workshop, will be held later this month.
Mrs. John Strutton will act as •a leader
for this and has asked for another
volunteer leader or helper.
To help celebrate the 100th anniversary
of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and
Food, awards will be given to 100 people in
Ontario who have rendered outstanding
service to agriculture in their respective
communities. Nomination forms have
been sent out to all the Institutes in the
province.
There is also a quilt competition being
held by OMAF. The $500 prize will go to the
quilt which best commemorates our
agriculture heritage.
The minutes of yesteryear were
prepared and read by Mrs. Jim Aitchison.
