The Clifford Novice team was in
Lucknow for a game on January 16 and
while the Clifford players seemed to play
well in their own right, the bigger, more
seasoned Lucknow boys handed out an 8 - 0

The goaltending in this game was left
solely to Curt Humphrey while Graeme
Hunter experienced a game "playing out".

The Lucknow Lancers travelled to
Ripley last Friday for their final meeting
with the Roosters and came home with a 6 -

goal with nine minutes remaining on the
clock. Paolin took the assist.
The Lucknow team was able to hold onto
their lead and took home the win after a
great game for both the players and the
fans. It is evident the Belmore team has
improved their play considerably since
last season.
The Lucknow Novice team hosted Ripley
in an afternoon contest on January 23, Curt
Humphrey handled the net minding duties
for Lucknow and made some key saves in
the game which saw the home team come
out winners.
The game saw Ripley put on a good
display of hockey skills but run out of
steam in the later half of the afternoon.
Lucknow was able to monoplize the scor-
ing in the first peroid. Scoring for Lucknow
was Ian Paolin from Michael Puddy; Pud-
dy assisted by Lee Drennan; and Colin
Becker unassisted. This gave Lucknow a
three goal lead to take to the dressing
room.
In the second period, Ripley's Darrin
Bolton netted one with help from his
linemates and Glen Ferguson bulged the
mesh on a fine rushing play unassisted.
Darren MacDonald responded for
Lucknow with assists to Darren Boron and
Paul Lowry while Glenn Ferguson scored

in the upcoming Blyth tournament .in
February and in the Zurich tourney in
March.
Last of the season
The Novice team hosted the Wingham
Nuggets last weekend for the final game of
the regular season. The duo of Humphrey
and Hunter dressed to share the net min-
ding duties.
Lucknow played a very strong game
both defensively and offensively and in do-
ing so, dominated the contest.
During the first period, the local boys
constantly peppered the Nuggets goalie
with shots but came away with only a
single marker. Trevor Moffat took that one
from Jeff Porter and Brent Cameron.
Lone scorers during the second period
were Porter unassisted and Michael Pud-
dy also unassisted. At the end of two,
Lucknow lead 3 - 0.
Lucknow added four more goals in the
final period. Porter scored from Moffat;
Ben Brophy capitalized on a pass from
Porter and Cameron; Ian Paolin netted
one from Puddy and Moffat added his se-
cond on the night from Cameron and
Ferguson.
Hunter and Humphrey shared the shut-
out and the Lucknow defense did a great
job keeping the puck out of their own zone.
Offensively, Lucknow was able to give the
Nuggets' goalie a good test with numerous
chances -to score.
" Next week, the Lucknow Novices head
into the play-offs with an excellent no -loss
road record. Will the winning ways con-
tinue? Only time will tell.
