Kinsmen commit $10,000
Following on the heels of last week's an-
nouncement regarding the approval of the
Lucknow and District Sports Complex, the
Lucknow Kinsmen Club has made a com-
mittment of $10,000 to the Fund Raising
Committee. This brings their total dona-
tions to the project to just over $13,000.
The local Kinsmen are also involved in
ticket salesof the current 50-50 Draw being
run by the committee.
As a service club to the community of
Lucknow and district, the Kinsmen see
this project as a high priority and are also
looking into other means of raising funds
for the Sports Complex.
Other plans include a Mushball Tourna-
ment, which is a variation of sldwpitch
played m snow, to be held February 13 of
this year.
Along with a dance at the Community
Centre the same night, all profits will go
directly to the Sports Complex Project.
The Kinsmen Club of Lucknow also re-
mains committed to their long standing
project at the Lucknow Kinsmen Com-
munity Park. The club is currently in
negotiation with the Maitland Valley Con-
servation Authority with regards to the
erection of a steel mesh fence and light
towers for the ball diamond area.
There is a problem to be overcome with
this project, namely the fact that this is
reclaimed land and is still zoned as part of
the Village Flood Plain. Permission from
the MVCA must be gained before any fur-
ther steps can be taken. .
Funds for this project are being kept in
Trust until a decision is reached.
Also, the Kinsmen are once, again
hosting a Snow Sculpturing -Contest for the
four elementary schools in the' area in
February and plans are also underway for
the annual Skatathon held in March.
